3/20/15 - Tall and lanky, he has a good athletic build and looks like he could put on some muscle in the future. He moves very swiftly in the field and takes good routes to the ball. He is very balanced at the plate, looks to stay in the middle of the field and the ball jumps off his bat. Very good power potential. He ran a 4.6 on a double.
3/17/19: Standing 6-foot-4 and 210 pounds, Misner is tooled up with a body by MLB. Reminds me of Bradley Zimmer, former 1st round pick by CLE in 2014. With an above average-to-plus arm, plus-plus raw power and a plus run tool underway, Misner is an amateur scout's dream. He has an easy, fluid swing with majestic power to right-center field. After taking a big league batting practice on Friday, launching ball after ball over the fence, including a few over the 50' tall scoreboard, he was out of sync during the game. He got started late, was then forced to rush to catch up and as a result, pulled off the ball. He never closed or evened-up with his stride; he simply looked to pull and elevate during every at-bat. He had an especially poor approach in his last at-bat against Razorback lefty closer Matt Cronin in the ninth inning. All of the pitches were away and Misner continually tried to pull. Eventually, he struck out trying to pull an outside fastball. During BP on Saturday, Misner adjusted by shortening up and using more of the field. The game results improved as he put the ball in play three of his four plate appearances, running a 4.2 home to first base in the process. Defensively, he is a joy to watch. Playing the big field he showed excellent reactions with a very good first step in all directions. He tracked the ball well, glided to the spot and simply waited for the ball to fall into his mitt. With a runner on second base, Misner showed off his arm by aggressively charging a ground ball and firing a bullet on a one hop/long hop for a perfect strike to the plate, holding the runner at third. For me, he projects to be a future Gold Glove corner outfielder. After missing most of the SEC season last spring (played just 14 games while slashing .310/.385/.397 with 6 walks and 12 strikeouts in 66 plate appearances) and all of the summer with foot surgery, his statistics this season will be greatly scrutinized. Although he looked overmatched by the lefty Cronin on Friday night, he hit LHPs very well in 2018 (.357/.471/.571 with just a 17.1% strikeout rate). Overall, he has impact tools in all areas of the game and one poor weekend in the batter's box (0-for-12 with six strikeouts) doesn't ruin a prospect or a season. He is an elite level prospect who will likely be selected early during Day One. (Seifert)
10/23/18: Average arm at 1B. Showed a quiet approach at the plate with a repeatable swing. Tended to lose the barrel a bit early in his swing, but had good lift and extension through the ball. Stays connected well. May struggle with elevated fastball with his current swing path, but should mash pitching from the belt down. Top of top round potential for 2019 draft. (Seifert)
10/8/18: Athletic bodied at 6'3/210, Misner is still recovering from a foot injury after missing the final 15 games of his 2018 spring season. When healthy and at his best, he is an average runner with an above average arm and patrols CF for the Tigers. He will likely move to a corner in professional baseball where the combination of his above average hit ability, plus power and strong plate discipline (32 BB/26 SO in 125 ABs last spring ) will play on an everyday level. Misner will attract plenty of attention this spring and consideration early in Day One of the 2019 draft. (Seifert)
