Ethan Straight: 1B/LHP, (2021) Staley, MO. 6-foot-2, 170-pound lean frame. In the box, the left-handed hitter clocked an exit velocity of 86 mph. Begins in a tall stance with a big load, then uses a toe tap just before his swing. Bat speed was above average, showed upward swing plane and a back foot finish. He found a few barrels with some loud contact. Pull side approach. Fluid while in the infield, recorded position velocities up to 77 mph; has sure hands, a clean exchange and average feet. Had consistent accuracy to the base and a low ¾ slot. During the event, clocked a 60 time of 7.73.
Straight is a lean framed 6-foot-2, 170-pound left-handed hitting first basement out of Missouri’s Staley HS. At the event he ran a 7.82 second 60 and a 5.00 home-to-first. At the plate, he posted an exit velocity of 85 mph, upright and balanced stance, reverse toe tap, smooth load with hands, leverages front side, remains balanced throughout swing, produced line drive contact to right field during batting practice. Defensively, good lateral movements, clean exchanges, long arm action, high three-quarter release, positional velo of 76 mph, accurate throws across the infield.
10/20/18 – Straight is a long, lean and projectable frame at 6-foot, 155-pounds. He is a left-handed hitting corner infielder in Missouri’s 2021 recruiting class. At the event he ran a 7.59 second 60, 5.06 home-to-first and posted an exit velocity of 82 mph. At the plate, Straight shows a smooth load with a toe tap, loose hands, some lift to his swing, repeatable swing with minimal head movement, during batting practice he showed hard contact and pop to his pull side. Defensively at first base, athletic actions, moves well laterally, quick and clean arm action, high three-quarter release, ball carries, positional velocity of 69 mph, mostly accurate throws.
7/5/17 - Straight is a long and lean 6-foot 155-pound left-handed hitting first baseman in Missouri’s 2021 class. He ran a 7.71 60 and has a 78 mph exit velocity. At the plate, wide stance, short stride, smooth load, no wasted movement, slight lift in bat path, middle to pull side contact during batting practice. On the infield, 69 mph positional velocity, loose three quarters release, field ball out front, moves with athletic feet, quick catch and throw, footwork create momentum to throw, clean exchange.
