Power / Speed Score
A simple calculation that divides the athlete’s Exit Velocity Max by the athlete’s 60 Yard Dash time for the given event year. For example, 98 MPH / 7.00s = 14.00.
Body: 5’9’’, 145 pounds. Developing, lean frame with feel present. Hit: RHH. Balanced, traditional setup with the barrel resting on the shoulder pre-load; utilized a short lift and replace stride to initiate the bat head through a flat path into the hitting zone. Good connection and minimal effort pointing towards repeatability present at the dish, generated one of the top on-plane efficiencies we’ve seen (96% via Blast Motion) hinting at obvious bat to ball skills present. Will be an extremely tough out as he matures with a veteran, well-seasoned approach during batting practice. Used the middle of the field mostly and just hit the ball where it was pitched with consistency. Power: 81 mph exit velocity during BP per TrackMan. Starting to tap into his power source; developing doubles power at the moment with ability to hammer pitches up in the zone with good barrel accuracy. Arm: RH. INF - 74 mph. Quick, whippy high 3-4 slot and drops it down lower on plays on the run. Comfortability getting it out on the release with minimal restrictions. Defense: Arrived on time and held momentum through the fielding window, aggressive downhill shuffles towards the target and adequate pace during defensive evaluations. Handled plays in any direction well with confidence in the glove hand. Accurate throws across the diamond and the arm strength points to a stay at 2B for the moment. Run: 7.80 60-yard time.
Delivery: Quick pace with a short side rocker into the leg lift at slightly above belt height (hip coil present); fast move out of the stack with good connection at release. Arm Action: RH. High ¾ slot with the same arm speed on all pitches creating some deception. FB: T78 mph, 73-77 mph. Average spin rate of 1882 rpm. Moderate life when working both sides of the plate with a minor, heavy feel to it. CB: 64-65 mph. Average spin rate of 2123 rpm. Really sharp pitch that will get outs on the bump; hard horizontal break across the plate (20.4 inches on average via Trackman). CH: 71-72 mph. Killed spin (1400 rpm average) with impressive sell on the release, saw significant depth with down action. SL: 69-70 mph. Average spin rate of 1330 rpm. Developing shape, struggled to repeat on this date.
