Speedy lead-off hitter for the Friars. Hits from a balanced, open stance at the plate with the bat head held vertically. High leg kick load and creates some nice hand separation. Showed quick hands and bat speed. Has a tendency to get long at times. Level swing path and swings with intent.
MD Future Games Trials 6.27.18
Solid, compact, and athletic body type with a 5-foot-7, 165 pound frame. Hits from a balanced, slightly crouched, and closed stance. Use a toe tap for timing and gets good hand separation. Stays behind the ball well with some lower half involvement and bat speed. Exit velo up 86 mph. Gets uphill slightly through contact and has a short level swing path. Took two very nice rounds of BP spraying line drives gap-to-gap. Athletic and plays through the ball in the infield with quick feet, soft hands, and showed a clean exchange. Short arm action throwing from a low three-quarter slot at 79 mph. Ran a 4.17 home-to-first time. Side-step wind-up with a slight rock up into a quick balance point. Creates quick arm speed through release. Short arm action throwing from a high three-quarter slot. Has a tendency to drop arm into a low three-quarter slot on off-speed pitches at times. Generates strong lower half drive off the rubber and lands open, falling slightly to the first base side. Fastball topped out at 80 mph. Sat 77-78 mph mostly. Breaking ball had tight 11/5 shape at 67-69 mph. Change-up showed plus fade at 64-66 mph. Mixed in a knuckleball at 59 mph.
1.21.17 (Freshmen Free Showcase) - Compact frame at 5-foot-7, 150-pounds. Controlled, no wasted movement delivery. Arm goes down at break, then moves into a shorter, sound arm action. Gets some lower half involvement but could get more from backside. Finishes with slight first base side finish. Quick arm through finish. FB up to 77 mph and was 73-76 with slight run on the pitch.. Breaking ball ranged from 66-68 mph with short, late action. Change was 67-68 with late sink to the pitch...........Ran a 4.17 home to first. Hits from a wider, square setup, pre-loaded with weight back. Short movement to start swing with nice rhythm throughout. Direct swing path with bat speed and some extension through contact. NIce balance throughout and clean lower half. Gap-to-gap ability with exit velo of 79 mph. Smooth athletic actions in the field, with quick exchange and release. Infield velo of 69 mph.
5.15.16 - Athletic frame with room to grow at 5-foot-7, 145-pounds. Ran a 7.24 60-yard dash and home to 1stat 4.59. Hits from a square athletic set up. Level bat path with some extension through contact. Opportunity to use bottom half more. Exit velo of 75 mph. Active feet from the middle. Clean hands and exchange. Short arm action throwing from a ¾ arm slot. Works thru the ball and throws across the diamond at 70 mph.
