Two-way guy that continues to improve on the mound. Profiles as a pitcher and with a velocity jump in the next couple years, he could be a serious one. Pitches out of a ¾ slot with a quick tempo delivery. Simple lift and go, the direction and posture is proper. The frame is still thin, as he could use some lbs. The fastball has good arm-side run to it, touching 81 mph. The breaking ball is good at 70 mph. The changeup is also a good pitch, sitting at 75 mph. Occasionally, he drops down and comes out you from underneath. The arm works well down there as well. Positionally, showed a solid glove at shortstop and the arm strength to make all the throws. Handles the pivot well. Threw 81 mph across the infield. Ran a 4.57 down the line on his dig. The bat has a tee exit velocity of 80 mph. The frame needs strength to help the bat. Hits out of wide base setup with a low hand start. The path to the ball is long, as he needs to shorten down his swing to handle better pitching. Profiles as a pitcher at the next level for me.
2/15/16
A good looking prospect who showed a solid glove with the proper footwork through the ball. Threw 78 mph across the diamond with accuracy and carry. The arm works very well and projects in the field and on the mound. At the plate, had a tee exit velocity of 78 mph. The swing needs physical strength, as he shows a good path to the ball. The plane is flat through the zone, he showed solid contact throughout his swings. The setup is wide and he controls the bottom half. On the mound, the fastball got up to 79 mph with arm-side run. The delivery is sound and on time. Throws from a ¾ arm slot as well as dropping down occasionally. The drop down slot is very deceptive and the spins on his pitches are done well. The breaking ball from up top, touched 65 mph and the changeup had the right spin and fade at 70 mph.
1/18/16
A right-handed pitcher, coming off pneumonia, who also works out in the infield as well. In the infield, he showed a good release and the proper footwork while fielding the ball. Threw 69 mph across the infield with minimal effort. The bat had a tee exit velocity of 78 mph. Hits out of a wide base and a low hand set up. The barrel is long to the ball and the bottom half of the swing is under control. On the mound, he shows a ton of potential. throws out of a standard ¾ slot but also dropped his slot down to below ¾ and showed plus stuff. Out of the regular ¾ slot he was up to 75 mph and when he dropped down he touched 77 mph. The breaking ball is slurvy, 65 mph from the regular slot and 67 mph from below and nasty. The changeup was 70 mph and a work in progress. In the windup, has a pump to it and he has long and lanky arms. The delivery is repeated and direct. With strength and innings, this guy could be a serious guy as he throws strikes and projects well.
