Left-handed hitting first baseman who also catches. We see him as a possible outfielder at the next level with ability at the plate. The glove at first is solid and he shows arm strength from a long arm path. Showed well in pre-game behind the dish, showing accuracy and carry to his throws. At the plate, the swing is loose and has pull strength to it. Tends to lose bat as he pulls off the ball prior to contact. Spreading the field and letting the ball get deep will aid his progression. Has ability and good mindset for the game. Doubled to the pull side in the game.
8/16/15
Left- handed hitting first baseman who can spell behind the dish if need be. At the plate, the swing is loose and the hands work very well. He tends to pull off the ball and loose bat as he swings. Getting his feet under control will help to stay on the ball. Tee exit velocity of 85. Showed a solid glove around the bag at first and a long throwing motion. Behind the dish the receiving is choppy and needs some repetitions. His arm has strength to it, but the path is long on the backside for a catcher. Threw 79 from first base and 72 from behind the dish. Had a pop time of 2.06, accuracy of the throws needs to improve as well. I like the bat.
3/8/15
5-foot-10, 182-pound strong build. From behind the plate he starts in a high crouch with a decent transfer. Pop times with get better when he gets more online with his throws. Showed 68 mph arm strength and pop times of 2.22-2.40. From first base he shows good footwork around the bag with soft hands and 69 mph arm strength. Left-handed hitter with a leg kick to load and a flat swing. Has a strong lower ½ and shows some power to his pull side with 88 mph exit velocity and ran 7.79-60.
12/6/14
Left-handed hitting stocky first baseman stands 5-foot-10, 175-pounds. His swing speaks for itself as he can handle the barrel and hits the ball with authority. Pull happy at this time while showing plus power to that side of the field. The bottom half is evenly set up and he has a front leg lift but he gets the foot down prior to contact. The path is flat and very aggressive. Needless to say, he doesn't get cheated at the dish. Tee exit velocity of 84 mph. At first, the defense is playable as his feet are good. Throws 76 mph across the diamond and ran a 5.41. The glove worked well and his prep steps were correct. Good left-handed hitting prospect, thunder in the bat.
