Gagne is a physical 6-foot-4, 200 pound right-handed hitting two-way prospect. He hits out of a wide stance with the hands close to the head. The load is good and gets him into a strong hitting position. The swing is flat through the zone and showed some real strength with an exit velocity registering 96.3 MPH during the batting practice. He also ran a 7.0 sixty.
Defensively, the young first baseman was 73 MPH across the field. The footwork is deliberate and allows him to get into a fundamental fielding position. The hands are soft as he transitions through the ground ball into the throwing position. The arm swing is long and he finishes through the play well.
On the mound, Gagne uses a controlled, simple delivery to get down the mound. The fastball sits 77-80 MPH out of an over the top slot. The breaking ball has tight spin at 74-75 MPH and he mixes in a split-finger, with downward tilt at 73-74 MPH.

6-foot-4, 200-pound right-handed hitting first baseman. He ran a 7.06 sixty at the event as he moves well for his size. The feel around the bag at first is solid as he moves well and shows a reliable glove. He threw 75 mph across the diamond to third base during the infield portion of the workout. The bat has an exit velocity of 91 mph as he is big and strong. The setup is wide in base and the front foot steps into the swing. The path is uphill as he drops his hands a bit to start the swing as he looks to lift the ball. The hands work free and clean with the bat.
