5'11" 180 lbs. frame with present physicality. Mixon is a guy that we liked coming out of our Baton Rouge Summer Open last June and he performed well again at our State Games event last October. Last Friday, he faced off against a Nicholls State recruit and put together a really nice game. In his second at-bat, he stayed on top of a pitch up in the zone and backspun a ball to the opposite field gap for a double to lead off the Top of the 4th inning for the Cubs. Mixon has consistently shown the ability to not only hit the ball the other way, but drive the ball the other way, which was one of the biggest reasons why we were impressed with him last year. He's a good uncommitted sophomore to circle for the remainder of this spring and into the summer season.

Lane Mixon, University Lab (LA), 2026 Positional Profile: SS/OF Body: 5-11, 178-pounds. Athletic with physical lower-half. Hit: RHH. Upright and athletic stance with hands held at shoulder height, reaches out with front foot and lands early during a simple load and stride. Stays tight in his turn with and inside path to contact and works slightly uphill through extension finishing with two hands, hits against a firm front leg and stays balanced, can hit the ball really well to the opposite field gap, collected a couple of hits on Sunday and was our player of the game. 63.6 mph bat speed with 14 G’s of rotational acceleration. Power: 93 max exit velocity, averaged 85.7 mph. 305' max distance. Arm: RH. INF-82 mph. Average arm circle with a near OTT release. Defense: Average hands and actions, caught everything clean and out front, showed he could throw from a different arm slot on forehand and bounder play, likely profiles as a corner INF. ATH: 7.29 runner in the 60. 1.78 and 4.06 in the 10 and 30 yard splits.

Strong top hand takes a direct path to contact with level extension and a two-handed finish, showed some bat speed and pop to the pull-side gap, but was still able to drive the ball the other way. Could use lower-half a little more to generate even more power. 67.9 mph bat speed with 15 G’s of rotational acceleration. Power: 88 max exit velocity, averaged 84.3 mph. 232' max distance. Arm: RH. INF-81 mph. Short and quick with a high 3/4 release. Defense: Starts low and plays low to the ground, good reads off the bat, set up body to receive the good hop, profiles more as a 2B or 3B.
