Purdue recruit. Athlete with a strong, thin, lean, narrow, and wiry body who has a high waist and a frame that has room to fill out. Gil has a lanky body that allows his legs to work well with strong running strides and smooth actions. Produced a 6.89 60-yard dash time. Displayed a very accurate and confident arm from the SS position. Had an easy glove to throwing hand transfer when fielding with a cross body throwing style. Made strong throws from the backhand side in the 5-6 hole. Had quick feet and was able to throw with balance and body control. Left-handed batting stance is erect that allows him to hit with good barrel control and good bat speed. Slight forward hip drift at times made him top some balls with the barrel and hit ground balls on the pull side. When his timing and body stayed behind ball, he crushed some balls deep. Very good feel for the game overall and being a LH hitting SS with some upside makes for an interesting future.

Purdue commit Ty Gill (Valparaiso HS) is a smooth fielding shortstop with a lanky 6-foot-1, 155 pound frame. He has advanced feel at the SS position with an accurate arm at 89 mph. Offensively, the LHH has advanced barrel control with quick bat speed and pop to his pull-side. Recorded a high exit velocity of 92 mph. Ran a 6.97 in the 60.

Purdue commit. Lean, athletic build. 6-foot-1, 155-pound left-handed hitting shortstop for Morris Chiefs. Balanced setup, smooth load, short stride, slight leg lift. Quick hands, long, uphill path to the baseball, fluid rhythm through contact, worked competitive at-bats, showed a patient, pull-side approach at the plate. Very projectible as he fills out his frame. Made an appearance in relief against 29ers baseball on Day One as well. Drop/drive type delivery, works in line with target, square landing. Loose arm action, short draw, high ¾ slot, ball comes out his hand cleanly. Fastball touched 81 mph, sat between 78-80 mph with some run. Curveball played at 68-70 mph, 11/5 shape, tight break.
2/23/2019: Ty Gill, SS/RHP, Valparaiso HS, 2021, 6 foot 1, 155 pounds, continued to impress at this event posting exit velo of 90 mph, throwing 85 mph across the diamond, and running a 7.15 60 yard dash. Has the tools and athleticism to stay at SS, and also has the bat speed and swing to hit in the middle of anyone’s lineup.
7/24/18: 2021 athletic MIF prospect hits from the left side. Open setup in box, smooth rhythm throughout swing. Stride is short to the baseball. Bat path is uphill creating leverage and extension. Showed good bat speed during round of BP. Showed gap to gap ability with juice in bat for MIF prospect. Got down the line at 4.52. In the field displayed soft hands, fielding everything out in front with sound footwork. Throws were accurate across the diamond at 81. Very good 2021 MIF who's tools will continues to improve with added strength to frame.
2/24/18: 6-foot, 145 pound left-handed hitting shortstop has potential power in the batters box. Lanky frame, some length in the swing. Short stride, smooth hand load. Above average bat speed. Uphill path to contact, stays on plane. Average balance. High exit velocity of 78mph. Defensively, hands are above average. Long transfer at times. Flat, clean footwork. Throws had carry across the infield. Highest velocity was 82. Ran a 7.27 60 yard dash.
2017 Junior Future Games - Left-handed hitting middle infielder, with a lean projectable frame. Offensively, slightly open set-up, loose quick hands with level path, stayed in middle of field, advanced approach. Consistent hard contact with competitive at bats. Defensively, athletic active feet, plays through the ball, lower arm slot for short-stop but has carry. Very projectable middle infield prospect.
