2/16/2019: Jacob Roof, C/1B, Chesterton HS, 2020, 6 foot 3, 220 pounds, is a physical switch hitting catcher with some raw bat speed on both sides of the plate. Stays back and spins a little on the left side with an early hand load. Gets on plane a little easier on the right side, but balance would improve power and plane on both sides. He had a max exit velo of 91 mph at the event. Behind the plate, Jacob needs to work on his arm strength to improve his pop times. Has good feet and transfer but only threw 73 mph from the crouch to throw 2.09-2.19.
7/17/18: Physical 2020 switch hitting catcher/CIF. Uses same setup from both sides of the plate. Showed a quicker bat from the left side and ability to lift the baseball deep. Bat path is level to slightly uphill from both sides of the dish. Posted an exit velo of 87 from left side and 86 from right side. In the field showed decent actions, long exchange with throws showing accuracy across the diamond at 75. Behind the dish showed quick exchange and arm strength was 72 from the crouch. Pops ranged from 2.11-2.19.
