2/16/2019: Hoyt Bennett, C/RHP, Highland HS, 2020, 6 foot 1, 205 pounds, is a big bodied RHP that throws from a high ¾ slot and a long arm action. Showed a straight FB that sat 80-82, 12/6 CB that sat 63-64, and a CH with some arm side run that sat 70-74.
7/18/17: The 6-foot, 200 pound sophomore hits from a crouched position, with some pull side lift from the right side of the plate. The big bodied catcher showcased a leg lift to load with average bat speed to pull side. Lower half works when front foot gets down, had tendency to drift forward with hands and barrell dragging through zone at times. Barrell was strong through the zone when on time. Showcased average arm strength behind the plate, 2.0-2.08 pop times. Clean one hand catch to transfer with feet working in positive direction, stood tall at release. Stronger lower half and core with quicker foot speed will quicken pop times and speed up the transfer. Sits well to receive, has more flexibility to gain to sit lower in stance and block side to side with quickness. Threw 71mph from behind the plate, delivering accurate throws to the base.
