5-foot-11, 156-pound lean frame; LHP/OF. At the plate, the left-handed hitter had an exit velocity of 77 mph. Began in a open stance, had a wrapping load and used a big leg kick just before his swing. Had a straight-to-the-ball swing plane and quick bat speed, and he ended his swing with a level finish. Path showed a line drive approach. In the outfield, his throws to the bases were maxed out at 81 mph; showed consistent hands, athletic feet and a quick exchange. Had a quick arm action and a ¾ slot. He recorded a time of 7.0 in the 60-yard dash. On the mound, he used a loose arm action with an over-the-top arm angle while showing some arm speed. He uses a drop-and-drive type delivery with some effort. Level shoulders coming off the mound. He showed the most control on his curveball (58-60 mph) when he stayed on top. His fastball was clocked at 78-79 mph; occasional run. He showed a sinking changeup (71-73) with some action.
9/10/17: 60 Time: 8.1, Position Velocity: OF-75, Exit Velocity: 70. 5-foot-10, 145 pound freshman lefthander uses rhythm from the left side to produce consistent line drives to opposite field. Short, choppy to the baseball, barrel and hand load is good, front foot lift is simple, creates small separation with hand push back. Small arm bar, more strength to gain on young frame. Corner outfielder, plays well through the baseball with good tempo and hop in step. Low, ¾ arm slot, travels with the baseball to throw, long to short arm action. Struggled with accuracy, big run on baseball arm side. Hand gets on side of baseball, needs to work on top. PITCHING: Lanky and loose freshman lefthander uses drop/drive delivery down the mound, at times rushing. Max effort with arm action, more in the lower half to generate down the mound. Low ¾ arm action, spins off mound at release point, has more muscle to add to frame and arm strength. Mixed 2 and 4 seam fastball, tendency to spin and miss arm side up and in. 2 seam has some run, fastball was thrown 69-72. Slider was loose spin, stayed on flat plane and was throw 62-64.
