Hit: RHH. Narrow, tall stance, wrapping load, leg lift stride. Quick bat speed. Extension on his finish, uphill swing plane. Generates good forward movement. Gap-to-gap approach.
Power: 89 mph exit velocity.
Defense: Clean exchange, sure hands, heavy footwork. Plays through the baseball. Ability to throw from multiple arm angles.
Arm: RH. 88 mph across the diamond. Long arm action, high ¾ slot.
Run: 7.43-60
Pitching: Drop and drive delivery. High ¾ arm angle, quick arm speed. Shoulders work slightly uphill. Lands square. Has some effort in the delivery.
FB: T90. 86-89 mph.
CB: 73-76 mph. Tight spin, low in the zone accuracy, 11/5 shape.
CH: 74-75 mph with some fade.
12/14/19
5-foot-9, 175-pound athletic frame. On the mound, showed a loose arm action and a high ¾ angle with quick arm speed He is a drop-and-drive type pitcher who uses high effort. Has an athletic balance point and uphill shoulders. Lands square. Clocked sitting at 84-85 mph (T-86). Threw his tight curveball (72-75) with in the zone control. Threw a heavy changeup (74-76) with fading action.
2/23/2019: Eli Clotfelter, RHP/SS, Mount Vernon HS, 2021, 5 foot 9, 175 pounds, uses simple delivery with a medium arm action and mid ¾ slot on the mound. Fastball was straight and sat 80-82, CB was sharp 11/5 tilt and sat 72-73, CH was straight and sat 71-74. I can see velo going up with ability to spin based on good arm action and arm speed. At the plate, Eli stands tall in stance, and uses controlled leg lift to start swing. Separation is easy and launch position is really good. Barrel gets on plane early and ball flight is good off the bat. Had an exit velo of 91 mph, and creates his bat speed while maintaining good balance. Defensively had good actions and release to throw 84 mph across the infield. Doesn’t profile at SS, but actions and arm would allow him to play 3B/2B. Eli is an interesting 2021 follow.
