The highest Edge Score within the given year. Edge Score is a comprehensive score that takes the core-six visual skills into account, providing an assessment of an athlete’s overall visual ability.
The maximum speed, in the direction of home plate, that the wrist is traveling. Measured in meters per second (m/s)
Arm Slot
Angle of the forearm relative to the ground between maximum external rotation (MER) and ball release (BR). Which can be a powerful player comparison metric, delivered in degrees.
Knee Extension Velo
The angular velocity of the front knee straightening after foot plant, which provides indicators of velocity potential. Measured in degrees per second.
Deception
The amount of time that the ball is visible to the hitter, after the instant of front foot strike. Measures in milliseconds.
Hip-Shoulder Separation
The difference in angle of between the hips and shoulders, occurring close to the foot plant. Measured in degrees.
All INF Taylor Voorhees (St. Joseph-Ogden) was able to do at this event was hit, but his performance at the plate should draw next-level attention his way on its own. Voorhees took a polished round of BP, staying controlled and relaxed throughout while peppering loud barrels into each gap with loose, strong hands that stay on plane and work slightly uphill through the zone. His barrel feel is underscored by a sweet spot rate measured at 80 percent on TrackMan, and it enhances his batted-ball profile given his inherent strength. Voorhees registered a max exit velocity of 97.6 mph (90.0 average) and his furthest batted ball traveled 326 feet.
7/12/22
INF Taylor Voorhees (St. Joseph Ogden, 2023) took a quality round of BP, repeating hard lifted contact off the barrel from a simple right-handed stroke, peaking at 92.7 mph. Voorhees showed easy bat speed with loose hands and put up some of the day’s best Blast Motion swing metrics, too. Moving over to the mound, Voorhees was one of the cleanest movers in attendance; working with an up-tempo pace into balance point, his leg-kick swings up high before dropping into his lower-half, shoulders tilting uphill before striding in-line downhill. The right-hander’s fastball sat in the 80-81 mph range throughout his pen, averaging 20.2 inches of IVB with a max of 22 inches. He also showed the ability to spin two different breaking balls; the first being a sharp 11/5 curveball at 68-71 mph, and the second being a 10/4 slider with sharp sweeping action, 71-73 mph. To round out his arsenal he went to a fading changeup at 72-75 mph.
