10/14/12 - Nelson has put his skills on display a lot over the last month and has consistently proven that he is a high level middle infielder. Nelson again showed easy bat control, with great hands at the plate and in the field Nelson continues to show his ability to spray line drives to the right side with ease. He hits with an inside out approach showing excellent balance in the box. Nelson also posted his best 60 time to date, running a 6.58. Defensively, Nelson continues to show soft hands in the field using his quick, fluid footwork to get into great fielding positions on balls to his left and right. Nelson continued to impress again and proves he is one of the better middle infielders in his class.

10/7/12 - Nelson is one of the better middle infielders in his class. At 5-foot-11, 165-pounds Nelson exhibits solid footwork resulting in good range going both to his left and right. Nelson ran a showcase best 6.64 in the 60 and translates it well to the baseball field. Nelson’s hands are smooth and clean, efficiently getting the baseball to first base with accuracy. His arm showed good carry giving him the ability to play the left side of the infield. He also displayed the ability to deliver the ball accurately and quickly when on the move. Nelson projects as a typical two-hole type hitter, showing excellent bat control and the ability to stay inside and drive the ball to the opposite field. Nelson’s swing consistently produces line drives to the right side. Overall, Nelson is a versatile infielder that is an excellent runner with excellent bat control.
2/20/12 Nelson is a lanky 5-foot-9, 145-pound middle-infielder who showed solid actions in all facets of the game. Defensively, Nelson looked smooth up the middle, as he moved fluidly through the ball. At the plate, Nelson has a balanced setup with a line drive swing. Additionally, Nelson ran a 4.14 home to first.
