Unsigned Senior Spotlight: MIF Stewart Nelson
September 21, 2012
By Steve Nielsen
Today’s Unsigned Senior Spotlight is on Stewart Nelson. Nelson is a Class of 2013 graduate of Lyons Township. The middle infielder has been one of the top performers in the Fall Prospect Program. He has showcased a lively bat this fall, with slick actions in the field Nelson has been picking everything in range.
Nelson is a lanky 5-foot-9, 145-pound middle-infielder who shows solid actions in all facets of the game. Defensively, Nelson is smooth up the middle, as he moves fluidly through the ball and makes all the routine plays. At the plate, Nelson has a balanced setup with a line drive swing. Nelson has shown the ability to drive the ball the other way with occasional pop. Additionally, Nelson ran a 4.14 home to first.
Nelson has continued to show progress the entire fall. Nelson’s foot-speed is already there and as he matures and develops added strength Nelson will only continue to get better.
