10/14/12 - Doughty is a left-handed hitting outfielder who plays through the baseball aggressively and athletically. At 6-foot-1, 170-pounds, Doughty, who ran a 7.00 60, showed above average carry while being clocked at 87 mph from the outfield. His footwork is clean and fluid, playing through the baseball aggressively. At the dish, Doughty uses a short stride with a slight leg kick. His bat path is level and showed aggressive bat speed through the zone. His approach is mechanically sound, staying line-drive disciplined throughout his round. Doughty also showed exit speeds of 88 mph from the tee.

6/14/12 Doughty is a 6-foot-1, 175-pound outfielder who impressed with his smooth left-handed swing. Offensively, Doughty has a balanced setup, and takes an economical approach to the baseball. He demonstrated good rhythm and fluidity, using his lower half well and spraying line drives to all fields. Defensively, Doughty moved well in the outfield and displayed an accurate arm (80 mph). Additionally, Doughty ran a 7.15 60.

2/19/12 Doughty is a 6-foot-1, 170-pound outfielder who features an extremely easy and fluid left-handed swing.  He has a balanced, smooth load and takes an economical approach to the baseball.  Doughty has a relaxed plate approach, and he utilizes his lower half well.  Defensively, Doughty gets on top of his throws well and was clocked at 81 mph.  Additionally, he ran a 7.22 60.

Doughty features one of the most natural, fluid left-handed swings in the Class of 2013, and proved it at the event by putting on the best round of BP of the day. With his athletic 6-foot-1, 170-pound frame, Doughty demonstrated a balanced setup at the plate. His short stride and economical path to the ball, coupled with his excellent barrel whip and swing looseness, resulted in gap-to-gap power to both alleys. In the outfield, Doughty exhibited solid footwork and arm strength (82 mph) as he fired strikes to the target.

The 6-foot-1, 160-pound Doughty graded out as the best overall hitter at the Prep Baseball Report Class of 2013 Showcase. Doughty impressed with his smooth left-handed swing. He showed an advanced plate approach, demonstrating easy, relaxed hands, excellent bat speed through the zone and overall polished hitting mechanics. He gets excellent extension after contact, and the ball jumps off his bat with carry and backspin loft. Doughty, who ran a 7.14 60, also showed athletic actions in the outfield.
