RHP Paddy Roth (St. Patrick) continues to throw the ball well in front of our staff. After a strong performance at the recent Future Games, Roth didn’t miss a beat at the State Games. The loose and easy mover at 6-foot-3, 212-pounds worked two scoreless innings where he did not surrender a hit or a walk, while punching out three. Roth’s mix was headlined by an 86-89 mph (T89.7) fastball with arm-side run, paired with a slurve-type breaking ball at 72-75 mph. Roth would also turn over an 81 mph changeup that showed downer and arm-side fade (avg. 18.3” HM). Roth is an uncommitted name to continue to follow in Illinois.
2024 Future Games: Paddy Roth (St. Patrick) kicked things off for Team Illinois in their first game down at LakePoint. The 6-foot-3, 212-pound prospect tossed two innings, allowing one run on two hits, one walk, while recording two strikeouts. Roth is an easy mover down the mound, with a long/loose arm action out of a ¾ arm slot. His mix was headlined by a fastball that sat 85-89 mph (T90) with arm-side run. He would mix in a slurve-type slider at 72-75 mph, while showing a changeup at 80 mph.
Uncommitted, currently the top arm in the state’s sophomore class ranked No. 3 in Illinois, and No. 105 nationally. A fluid and athletic mover at a high-waisted 6-foot-3, 195-pounds, the righty came out of the ‘pen for the final two innings and showed well. His arm works clean and quick from a low ¾ slot with acceleration out front. His fastball came out of the hand easy with some arm-side run to it at 84-87 mph (T88 multiple times). He worked in a late-breaking slider at 71-73 mph for swing and miss when he needed it, while mixing in a 78-80 mph changeup. The sophomore will be a high-follow name to continue to watch moving through his high school career. He turned in a final line of: 2 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 1 R, 0 ER, 4 K
RHP Paddy Roth (St. Patrick, 2026) was the Most Valuable Pitcher at the 2023 Illinois State Games, and left this event with a similar impression. An ideal frame at 6-foot-3, 195-pounds with seemingly added strength since we last saw him, Roth is currently ranked No. 4 in Illinois’ sophomore class and No. 105 overall. He has a simple and repeatable delivery paired with a loose arm that has some acceleration out front. A polished and mature arm for his age, his fastball sat 90-91 mph, attacking the zone with the pitch. His slider sat 73-75 mph with late break, and he showed the ability to locate the pitch in and around the strike zone. To round out his three-pitch arsenal, he showed a change-up that sat 80-82 mph with an average of 17.4 inches of fade, as well as feel for the zone. Roth is a high-level uncommitted arm to follow closely this spring.

Delivery: Methodical, hybrid windup, medium, slightly closed leg lift, tall/fall delivery.
Arm Action: RH. Long, loose arm action, 3/4 slot, quick arm.
FB: T89, 83-87 mph. Life through the zone, cutting action. T2012, 1756 average rpm.
SL: 69-72 mph. 11/5 action, late depth. T1819, 1716 average rpm.
CH: 78-82 mph. Running action with depth, feel for the pitch. T1678, 1592 average rpm.
RHP Paddy Roth (St. Patrick, 2026; Illinois commit) was arguably the top performer on the mound at the Illinois State Games. Roth, who stands at 6-foot-3, 195 pounds, threw three innings, struck out seven, walked one, allowed no earned runs, and two hits. He features a loose arm with acceleration out front and athletic actions down the mound. Roth’s fastball sat in the mid-80s, topping out at 88.7 mph. Sitting in the upper-70s, his changeup had an average of 16.4 in. of horizontal movement, and he showed the ability to use it effectively and land it for strikes. He rounded out his arsenal with a slider that sat 69-72 mph. Roth looks every bit the part of a high-end follow on the hill in the 2026 class.
RHP/OF Paddy Roth (St. Patrick, 2026) is a big arm with a ton of upside and present feel on the mound. He showcased one of the better fastballs in his class at 84-86 mph with some heavy actions in the zone. Roth showed a slider at 68-70 mph and an advanced changeup at 74-75 mph which he peppered the zone with all three pitches.

Body: 6-2, 185-pounds. Athletic, high-waisted, loose-levered frame with developing strength.
Hit: RHH. Balanced setup, short stride and quiet load. Simple, strong swing; advanced strength through contact. Natural loft while working the middle of the field. Stays compact.
Power: 92 max exit velocity, averaged 89.4 mph. 287’ max distance.
Arm: RH. OF - 88 mph. High 3/4 slot, easy arm action, loose, quick arm; throws have life and carry to target.
Defense: Deliberate actions, gets behind the baseball, steady hands, directional release.
Run: 7.73 runner in the 60.
Positional Profile: RHP
Delivery: Tall and fall delivery syncs up well, lines work well to target, controlled finish.
Arm Action: RH. Strong live arm, out of a high 3/4 slot.
FB: T86, 84-86 mph. Plays firm with some heavy feel through the zone. T1821, 1738 average rpm.
SL: 68-70 mph. Sharp 10/4 action with late bite. T1714, 1680 average rpm.
CH: 74-75 mph. Above average feel, with arm speed and fade action. T1467, 1401 average rpm.
