Uncommitted. Stands in at a long-limbed 6-foot-6, 198-pounds, and got the start in their game on Saturday afternoon. Furmanek (Plainfield East, 2025) has some deception to his delivery, with the ball coming out of a low ¾ arm slot that gets on hitters late. He worked his fastball in the 85-89 mph range (T90) with some sink to it. He would then go to a slider at 77-80 mph for swings and misses. He tossed four shutout innings, allowing just one hit and two walks, while striking out five.
RHP Michael Furmanek (Plainfield East, 2024) gave one of the more intriguing looks on the entire weekend. Listed at a highly projectable 6-foot-6, 195-pounds, Furmanek still has plenty filling out left in his frame. The uncommitted right-hander has a deceptive crossfire delivery, and when paired with his low ¾ release makes for an incredibly tough look for opposing hitters, especially right-handers. His fastball cruised at 84-88 mph, still touching 88 mph in the fourth inning and playing with extreme run and sink through the zone, thrown to both sides of the plate. To pair off the fastball, he went to a 10/4 sweeping slider, thrown at 75-76 mph. Furmanek did not allow a single hit or run over his four innings of work.
Positional Profile: RHP
Body: 6-3, 165-pounds. Long-levered frame with plenty of room for continued physical development.
Delivery: Tall and fall delivery, full windup, lands square to target, level shoulders, strong front side, delivery could make for uncomfortable at bat.
Arm Action: RH. High 3/4 arm slot, whippy, quick action.
FB: T85, 84-85 mph. Jumps out of the hand, flashed heavy action, ability to throw for strikes.
CB: 64-66 mph. 12/6 shape, gradual action, ability to land for strikes.
SL: 66-71 mph. Tighter 2/8 like shape, plays to glove-side of the plate, average spin rate of 2,148 rpm via TrackMan.
CH: 64-65 mph. Flashed downward action, ability to throw for a strike.
