Redshirt freshman. 6-foot-2, 225-pounds, durable with strength throughout. The right-handed hitter had one of the loudest rounds of BP on the day, reaching up to 101.1 mph for his max EV with a max distance of 390’. On the infield, he has soft and steady hands, moving well for his size and reaching up to 86 mph across the diamond.
Freshman. Physical 6-foot-2, 202-pound build. Ascensio has a long right-handed swing at the plate, creating extension through the ball and producing a max exit velocity of 98.7 mph and average of 93.8 mph (379’ max distance). Defensively, he moves well for his size on the infield and pairs it with a strong arm (T88 mph INF). His arm-strength translates over to the mound, where he reached up to 85.3 mph with a max IVB of 21.6. He also displayed an 11/5 curveball at 72-74 mph (T2414 RPM) and fading changeup at 78-82 mph.
Kaskaskia JC commit, currently ranked No. 250 in the Illinois 2022 class. Strong-bodied, 6-foot-1, 195-pound frame, developed lower-half. Started on the mound for Joliet Catholic and impressed in our brief look. The right-hander works with a tall/fall delivery that remains in-line to the plate, creating some shoulder tilt to the glove side with a high ¾ slot. His fastball worked up to 87 mph, sitting mostly around 83-84 mph with arm-side life. The separator in Ascencio’s arsenal is his breaking ball; thrown for strikes consistently off a sharp 11/5 plane while mirroring fastball intent, 72-75 mph.
3.4.18 - 6-foot-1, 165-pound, right-handed hitting two-way player, well proportioned, athletic frame. Offensively, open, athletic setup, smooth back load, short stride, maintains balance. Utilizes lower half well, level path with extension, sprayed line drives to all fields with fluid rhythm and easy effort throughout. Present quick bat speed, exit velocity topped 86 mph from a tee. Defensively profiles as a corner infielder, fluid feet, steady hands, clean exchange, long arm, over the top slot. Exit velocity topped 74 mph from the infield. 7.93 runner in the 60. On the mound, open landing, works towards first base, with some athleticism in finish. Loose arm action, high ¾ slot, effort involved. Fastball worked straight, 73-77 mph. Curveball, 10/4 shape, flashed sharp break, 65-67 mph.
