Verbally committed to Louisville.

9/13/19

+ RHP Kyle Walter (Minooka HS, IL) is an uncommitted 6-foot-4, 220-pound, broad-shouldered, right-handed pitcher and was arguably the top uncommitted 2021 arm of Day 1 of the Midwest Fall Championship. Walter started on the mound for the Cangelosi Sparks and worked a couple of clean, quick innings. The strong-bodied right-hander has a clean, easy delivery and pounded the strike zone behind a fastball that sat 84-87 mph. Walter was able to consistently command the fastball to his glove side and went to his slider as a putaway pitch. Walter’s slider flashed late 10/4 action, expanded with two strikes and sat 74-76 mph. Should be a high-follow 2021 arm moving forward.

7/18/19

Currently ranked the No. 27th overall player in the Illinois 2021 class. Walters starred for Dynasty on the mound, starting the game and going the distance, striking out six. He featured a fastball that topped out at 85 mph, sat between 82-84 mph and showed the ability to spot it up on either part of the plate. Walters also showed off an 11/5 curveball that he used sparingly, but played at 73-74 mph.

4/25/19

6-foot-3, 205 pound, right-handed pitcher, young look, strong and athletic frame, advanced for ‘21 classification. Started for the Indians against a good Plainfield North team (Defending state champs) and finished with a line: L, 4IP, 6H, 5R, 4ER, 7K, 3BB, HBP, 2BK (56 of 89 pitches for strikes). Let up three early runs but hung around giving up one run in the third and forth, pitched into and out of jams. Uptempo style, quick side step into study balance, stays over rubber with back leg and hip leads in-line to home, utilizes strong lower half to coil body into throwing position, level shouldered, toe strikes closed, athletic finished with slight spin to first. Short arm swing, firmness in action, high ¾ slot, more arm strength, more of a thrower right now, effort is super easy, playing catch with some deception. Picked off frequently, not afraid to go over, 1.35-1.40 to home in stretch. Fastball played 85-87 mph in the early going, settled at 82-85 mph as he moved past pitch 40, easy out of the hand, more run than sink, worked outer third to most hitters 6/7 K’s came finished with the heater. Secondary is still developing, shows signs of ability to spin a curveball, 11/5 shape with occasional depth, some loopy and early break, 66-71 mph. Showed a changeup at 75 mph, stiffness in wrist, slight fade. Velocity jump should continue to come and with improving secondary, he will be a high-follow 2021. Plenty upside in arm.

8.19.18 - Intriguing right-handed pitching prospect. Works from ¾ arm slot producing 81-84 mph fastballs. Competes well on both sides of plate. Projectable breaking with sweeping break at 69-72 mph.

7.23.18 - 6-foot-3, 205-pound right-handed pitcher, long gangly frame. Long levers create arm action whip, high ¾ slot, quick arm. Delivery is quick to balance point, some deception, lands square with closed toe, drop and drive type. Fastball showed run to arm side, control of the zone, worked 83-86 mph. Curveball has gradual 11/5 shape, 66-69 mph, land for strikes type breaking ball.

2.18.18 - 6-foot-2, 185-pound right-handed pitcher, long gangly frame, large hands. Drop and drive type delivery, regular effort. Arm action is long and loose, ¾ slot. Fastball runs to arm side, has feel for zone with ability to control, 81-82 mph. Curveball played 64-67 mph, 11/5 shape. Changeup is thrown with some arm speed, 69-70 mph.

10.22.17 - 6-foot-2, 185-pound right-handed pitcher, long lanky frame. Delivery works online, slight drop and drive, little effort. Long arm action, high ¾ slot, showed quickness. Fastball showed feel for the zone, 80-82 mph, touched 83 mph. Curveball has 11/5 shape, 64-67 mph. Changeup fades, 67-71 mph, slighlty lower slot.
