His delivery is easy and clean, with a loose, high ¾ arm slot to pair. Matise (Mt. Carmel, 2026) primarily featured an 82-84 mph (T85) fastball that he controlled to both sides of the plate, with the ability to miss barrels. His curveball worked in the 65-69 mph range and earned occasional whiffs, to help keep hitters off his fastball. He turned in a final line of: W, 5.1 IP, 1 ER, 5 H, 2 BB, 9 K. Matise is an uncommitted name to continue to monitor in the state’s incoming-junior class.

The right-hander got the start for the Caravan and threw the ball well to help them claim their regional championship, firing a complete game (7IP) with just four hits allowed, one earned run, one walk and nine strikeouts. He moves well down the mound with a fluid tempo and uninterrupted arm action, getting into his legs while staying in-line and delivering his arsenal from a high ¾ window. His fastball cruised around 82-84 mph, topping out at 85 mph with the ability to move it to both sides of the plate. His curveball was his out-pitch, going to it regularly for swing/miss around 67-69 mph with 11/5 shape and feel. He also flashed a straight changeup in the mid/upper-70s. Definitely an arm to follow moving forward.

Currently ranked No. 93 in the state, Matise came on in relief for the Caravan and earned the win after a stellar showing. A loose mover at 6-foot-1, 160-pounds, Matise punched out three batters over his inning and two-thirds of work. He was able to induce weak contact and whiffs with his fastball that plays with 4-seam action at 80-83 mph, while being effective at the top of the zone. He went to a 70-73 mph changeup mostly in this look as his go-to secondary, playing with slight arm-side fade to miss barrels. Matise will be another Caravan arm to continue to follow throughout the spring. Final line: 1.2 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 0 R, 3 K.
