10/22/22

vs Kentucky: At 5-foot-9, 180 pounds and soon to be 23 years of age, Xavier shortstop and graduate student Jack Housinger was not the top pro prospect on the field, but he was the top baseball player in this game. With 16 home runs last spring his game power was already evident. And his first inning blast just to the left of dead center field backed up last season’s numbers as he turned around a 95 mph fastball from Kentucky starter Logan Martin. The left handed batter also added a double in his second plate appearance and played stellar defense throughout the scrimmage. With average arm strength he played low and showed quick hands with smooth, yet compact actions. Over the course of 12 innings, Housinger made three plays that most collegiate shortstops don’t sniff.

4/12/17

4.12.17 - 5-foot-8, 170-pound left-handed hitting shortstop with a small, athletic frame. Impressed defensively at short in game. Fluid footwork with soft hands, accurate throws across the infield. At the plate hits from a crouched, balanced setup, short, level swing path.

10.16.16 - 5-foot-9, 150-pound middle infielder. Defensively sound middle infielder, plays through the baseball athletically, clean exchange, showed quicker footwork, 7.20 runner. Hands are soft, arm plays athletically, quick release with body control. Short arm action, high ¾ slot, flashed carry, 81 mph across the diamond. Left-handed hitter, balanced stance, smooth loading action, short stride. Line drive type hitter, level path, slightly longer path, 85 mph exit velocity from the tee.
