LHP Carsen DeKeyrel (Rockridge) is an athletic southpaw to follow. He punched out four over his two pitch-efficient innings, only scattering two hits as well. DeKeyrel hides the ball well down the mound, which helps create deception and late life to his 78-80 mph (T81) fastball. DeKeyrel would show feel for a 12/6 downer curve at 72-74 mph, while pairing that with a 75-76 mph changeup with downer fade. DeKeyrel is certainly a name to monitor in the western part of the state.
Positional Profile: LHP/OF
Body: 5-11, 133.4-pounds.
Delivery: Easy and loose motion, high leg-lift, some drop/drive action, works in-line with stride, uphill shoulders downhill.
Arm Action: LH. Hides ball well, 3/4 slot. Struck out four with one walk and two hits allowed in two scoreless innings.
FB: T81, 79-81 mph. Plays with some sinking action. Four-seam has straighter actions. T2315, 2194 average rpm.
CB: 72-74 mph. Plays with some horizontal break, flashed depth. T2255, 2209 average rpm.
CH: 76-77 mph. Plays with sink and fade. T1682, 1597 average rpm.

Metrically his numbers didn’t jump off the charts, but the way his operation worked on the mound was intriguing. The southpaw is simple, yet athletic down the mound with little perceived effort. Dekeyrel’s fastball worked 76-79 mph with mostly straight actions. Both offspeed offerings are still being developed, but his changeup looks to be his best present offspeed. Sitting in the low-70s, the pitch had some fading actions to the armside. Dekeyrel’s wiry build and athletic actions show signs of a potential increase in velocity as he continues to physically mature.

CH: 72-73 mph. Thrown with intent, late bite, kills spin, lands. T1510, 1453 average rpm.
