Uncommitted. Long and lanky 6-foot-6, 214-pound frame, lomb limbs with room to add on strength. In a showing that would eventually earn Bengtson Prep Baseball Illinois Pitcher of the Week honors, the right-hander fired five hitless innings without allowing a run, only walking one and punching out 11. The big right-hander was in complete control of the game, recording the first nine outs of the game via the strikeout. He has a deceptive delivery that works across his body into a low ¾ release, tough angle for opposing hitters, especially righties. He worked his fastball all around the zone in the 84-86 mph range with heavy and late running action to his arm-side. His go-to secondary was his curveball with slurvy 11/5 shape and depth, landing for strikes and to put hitters away at 67-69 mph. He also went to a shorter, lateral slider to change up the look, sitting in the low-70s. Uncommitted name to know for the Ironmen that is primed for a big spring.
RHP Brady Bengtson (2024) will look to be another quality arm for the Ironmen this spring. Boasting a long-levered 6-foot-6, 214-pound frame. Bengtson provides a tough look from a low release, running his fastball up to 86 mph in front of our staff at the Illinois State Games this past summer. He also has shown confidence in both his curveball and slider, landing them for strikes and to put hitters away.
RHP Brady Bengtson (Normal Community, 2024) brings a hulking 6-foot-6, 205-pound frame to the mound with room to add on mass as he continues to mature. Bengtson uses his levers to create a tough look on opposing hitters, working across his body from a lower arm angle. His fastball played at 82-84 mph, touching 85 mph, and averaging 16.8 inches of run, per TrackMan. He showed confidence in both of his breaking balls; an 11/5 curveball at 71-74 mph and a 10/4 slider at 67-69 mph, and he landed them both for strikes, too.

Delivery: Stretch-only, compact and balanced, deceptive into a slight drop/drive lower-half. Allowed one hit and struck out three in two innings of shutout baseball.
Arm Action: RH. Low 3/4 release, creates tough angles especially for right-handed hitters.
FB: T86, 82-85 mph. True sinker, easy life out of the hand with hard run to the arm-side. T2170, 2029 average rpm.
CB: 71-74 mph. Sweeper that travels across zone. T1984, 1881 average rpm.
SL: 67-69 mph. Short wrinkle, horizontal, same arm slot as fastball. T1923, 1788 average rpm.
CH: 75-75 mph. Straight, developing pitch. T1833, 1833 average rpm.
Imposing 6-foot-6, 205-pound frame, long limbs. Impressed in the night-cap on Friday with his loose and easy arm. Slight cross-fire delivery creates some deception, especially for right-handed hitters. Bengtson cruised with his fastball in the low 80s, working up to 84 mph with hard sinking action at times. Went to a sweeping slider most often to pair off the fastball, showed some feel with big 10/4 shape.
