There’s plenty to like with RHP Braden Grimm (Evanston, 2024), who’s a long, projectable 6-foot-1, 165-pound athlete with more to come. Grimm’s fastball played at 84-87 mph with noticeable raw spin (T2540 RPM) and carry (20.2 IVB) as well. He spun two breaking balls off his fastball; a low-70s curveball that peaked at 2636 RPM with more bend/depth and a tighter, bullet-like slider at 74-79 mph, topping at 2538 RPM.
Positional Profile: RHP/2B
Body: 6-1, 165-pounds.
Delivery: Side-step windup with drop/drive delivery, lands on-line to the plate. Struck out four and did not allow a hit in two innings of work.
Arm Action: RH. Loose, whippy with full arm swing, 3/4 slot.
FB: T87, 84-87 mph. Jumps out of the hand with heavy armside run. T2540, 2356 average rpm.
CB: 71-74 mph. Developing feel, 11/5 shape, flashed sharp bite. T2636, 2476 average rpm.
SL: 74-79 mph. Tight, 10/4 shape with late break. T2538, 2439 average rpm.
CH: 78-79 mph. Deceptive, thrown at arm speed with heavy horizontal movement. T2057, 2015 average rpm.
Making his PBR event debut, RHP Braden Grimm (Evanston, 2024) impressed our staff with his performance on the mound. At 6-foot-1, 165-pounds, Grimm has clean and athletic actions down the mound paired with arm traits that match. He threw the hardest fastball at the event (87.7 mph) with his fastball range sitting 84-87 mph. He showed an aptitude to spin both a slider and a curveball in the ‘pen with noticeable differences in the two. The curveball showed 11/5 shape with bite at times, spinning it at an average of 2575 rpm. Grimm’s slider showed 10/4 shape, and he spun it at an average of 2569 rpm (event best). He rounded out his four-pitch mix with a mid-70s change-up that had an average of 17 in. of horizontal movement. Grimm is a name-to-know heading into his senior year at Evanston.

CH: 76-78 mph. Keeps the same arm speed as FB, fade to the armside, feel. T2212, 2157 average rpm.
