Uncommitted. 6-foot-2, 180 pounds. If there was ever a player truly built for big moments, it would be Tate. He goes into each game ready for war with no fear, untouchable confidence, and unshakable focus. Despite the Parkview student section doing everything they could to distract him the entire series, it had zero impact on his play. What was even more impressive was that it seemed to make him play better. This is a public service announcement to all other teams he faces, don’t get Sirmans riled up. I had a couple limited looks on him before this series, so came into the matchup knowing he had standout raw power. What I did not know about were his advanced hitting intangibles, blazing speed, and defensive ability at the hot corner. He routinely spit on quality breaking balls outside the zone from both RHP & LHP, and consistently found the barrel after working himself into good hitter’s counts. The swing path is short and compact, producing loud contact on a regular basis due to impressive hand eye and more minimal barrel angle. His lower half sink is both natural and gradual, allowing him to match pitch trajectory easily and engaging his lower half early in the swing. The hands are very well connected to the largest muscles on the backside and fire violently with intent. He’s able to create big torque in separation with a minimal load that allows him to jump all over big velocity FB’s, and he barreled up 93 mph middle in to deep center in this series. His run tool was the most eye opening, turning in multiple plus or better run times on infield hits. This is a a highly twitchy player overall with natural instincts at 3B that allow him to rob hitters on the regular, and his strong+accurate arm does well in the bunt game. A dynamite follow this summer for both college and pro scouts.
