Uncommitted. 5-foot-11 180-pounds. Maurer is just starting to ramp back up from an injury, and is looking really strong. Looks to have added strength in the frame, and I can see him creeping up over that 85mph mark as summer time comes around. He was a key piece to the Wolverines state championship run last year. He is a competitive lefty, and will give his team a chance to win game in and game out. He came out of the pen in the first round of the playoffs and pounded the zone for 2 innings. He was 82-85, spotting up on all parts of the plate. He mixed in his slurve like breaking ball at 74-75, and a changeup at 78. He works well out of the stretch, and manages the run game well with runners on base. Maurer is a big uncommitted arm to put on the list as the summer season kicks off in a couple weeks.
4/15/22
Uncommitted. 5-foot-10, 172-pound left-handed pitcher, carries strength throughout frame, good athlete on the mound. Repeatable delivery, creates deception, tall and fall, loads hips, stays on line, finishing square. Short on the backside to a low 3/4 slot, hides ball. Fastball sat 79-82, armside run. Slider came in at 71-72 with lateral movement, also showed a curveball in the upper 60s that took a 1/7 shape. Efficient pitcher, works quickly and consistently throws strikes.
3/18/21
5-foot-10, 155-pound left-handed pitcher, proportional build, young frame, lots of physical development to do. Entered the game in the 1st inning with two outs, down 6-1, went 6.1 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 3 BB/HBP, 6 K. Showed great composure on the mound. Arm works short and clean on the back-side, slot varies between low ¾ and side arm. Repeatable drop and drive delivery, easy effort, works on line, lands square, finishes square to home. Fastball sat 78-80 early in the game, armside run, located to both sides. Curveball, 68-69, sweeping action, good feel for. Changeup, 71, fade, rarely used.
