Yet another athletic middle-of-the-field prospect who can really pick it defensively. Heramb-Eckert plays the game with a hop and shows a good baseball clock and instincts. Offensively, he needs to add some strength and incorporate his lower half more, but the bat-to-ball skills are in place, just needs add that strength to his quality of contact.

Smaller, but live-bodied shorstop who showed a lot of hop around the infield and tremendous body control this week. He has good feet, along with a good release and enough arm to make plays look easy. At the plate he will need to generate more bat-speed and power, but his swing is simple and repeatable.

The wiry two-way 2020 SS/RHP prospect checks in at 5-foot-9 150-pound Eckert is a good athlete. He shows good actions and hands on defense. He glides to the ball and it goes into his glove with ease.  His hands are very good and his feet work easy. He is quiet defender. He has plenty of arm with an infield velocity of 84 and is going to get stronger with age. At the plate Heramb-Eckert is in need of strength, he has a narrow slightly open set-up, and he does not engage his lower half, and stay over his backside as much as you would like. It does cost him some bat-speed and leverage to the baseball. The good thing for Heramb-Eckert is he looks like a plus defender at shortstop and these guys get time to develop at the plate. Hard to find this type of skill set on defense. On the mound Heramb-Eckert is a projectable athlete and his arm works, but he will need to add strength to have a future at the next level on the mound. He does show the ability to spin the baseball, but it is loose and sweepy at 73 mph presently.  Very interesting athlete that has good ability and needs to get stronger.
