Quality AB after quality AB every time I've seen Purdy this spring and Battle for Bartow was no different. Well-balanced with good rhythm from the left side, the Alabama commit is quick with the barrel while offering great plate coverage through the zone. Purdy gets the front foot down quickly with a ton of drive from the lower half to create significant raw power to the pull-side and easy ability to drive the ball to both gaps. Plus arm at the hot corner with solid range and flexibility from the 6-foot-3, 210-pound frame. The junior is already one of the top bats in the class, but the frame only continues to get stronger backed by quality hit tool and that can only bode well for the ceiling.

Alabama Commit. Purdy put together so quality at bats the win vs. Calhoun. Andrew had a couple barrels, one to the pull side and one to the opposite field. Purdy has powerful movements from the left side and gets the backside through. Purdy came in on the mound in the 7th to get the save for the Hurricanes, he displayed an electric FB up to 91 and showed a good hammer BB off of the FB.

6-foot-3 210-pounds. Alabama commit. The 3 sport athlete continues to get better each time we see him. Just coming off basketball season with a high ankle sprain he looked to be in mid season form on the mound. He was up to 91, hitting it multiple times, and settled in at 88-90. He attacked hitters with the fastball and threw a 12-6 breaking ball that has really improved since the summer. His arm action continues to get better, and his strength is on display in all aspects of his game. His swing from the left side is still smooth as ever, and is still getting his timing back from basketball season. He had a single to the left side with 2 strikes where he did a good job of staying on the ball and hitting it where it was pitched.

Alabama Commit. Purdy has been one of the best players in the state and it has been for good reason. The strength is displayed almost every time we see him whether it be hard singles to the opposite field or mammoth home runs to pull side. Imposing left handed stick at the plate who changed his swing for this tournament where we saw him get the foot down super early and attempt to use the hands more effectively. Unique stance, but the results appeared the same. Also impressed with his two way ability on the mound where we saw him at 83-86 with the FB and a CB in the low 70’s with sudden sweep. Ranked top 35 in the nation and top 5 in the state!

Alabama commit. The 6 foot 2, 200 pound dropper of bombs has a large frame with sloped shoulders. The swing mechanics are tailored for power and they're some of the best I’ve seen at that age. His hips rock back as he squares up - tilts shoulders slowly on a decline plane during forward move creating unreal leverage+connection. As his stride lands - the shoulders replace each other on an incline rotation creating layback and a steep+knob led path that produces ridiculous barrel acceleration. This unique mechanical combo creates consistent loud contact and easy raw power, which is headed toward top of the scale.

Alabama commit. A top-50 prospect nationally. 6-foot-2, 190-pound left-handed hitting two-way prospect. Ultra projectable with strength and athleticism throughout. Did not play the field against Pike County, hit 3rd in the lineup as the DH. Led the team offensively with three hits in four at-bats, including a double and Calhoun’s only RBI. Advanced approach at the plate, mature beyond his age. Facing to mid-to-upper 80s fastballs, got his front down early and barreled two pitches pull-side in his first two ABs. Easy bat speed, able to drive the ball to all parts, present power with plenty more on the way. Explosive lower half.

Purdy was a member of Team Georgia at the 2021 Junior Future Games and impressed so much that he earned a spot start at the Future Games against Team Florida. A projectable athlete at 6-foot-2, 190-pounds, Purdy has a smooth left-handed swing that will be a major weapon as he physically fills out. On the mound, he can presently run his fastball into the mid-80s with much more on the way. He compliments it with three offspeed pitches that all play.
