Steele had one of the more productive days at the event as he showed well as a catcher and right handed pitcher. The solidly built Steele showed a very athletic stance behind the plate and was set low which allowed him to really handle the pitch down in the zone and showed very solid mechanics and quick recovery on balls in the dirt. The arm strength is there as he was 76 mph from behind the plate and an event best 2.03 pop time. At the plate he showed a slightly open stance and a leg kick approach to generate juice to his pull side. The swing plane had some tilt in it. He may have been the most impressive on the mound as he showed a very athletic delivery and hid the ball from hitters very well with a FB up to 86 mph. The pitch has some late life on it as well. The breaking shows tight spin and is a definite swing and miss pitch right now in the upper 60’s- low 70’s. The change up was 70-72 with nice tumble as well.
