10/12/18 - FAU commit. 6-foot, 170-pound left-handed hitting outfielder. Appears to have added some muscle to an athletic frame. Was aggressive in BP, with a level path and translated to consistent hard contact and line drives from gap-to-gap. Swing worked in the game where he stayed short and simple, recording a pair of hits and showing strikezone awareness and an approach that should play at the next level.
01/27/18- Florida Atlantic recruit. Lean, projectable frame standing at 6-foot, 170 pounds with plenty of athleticism. From the left side of the plate he has a slightly open stance with a wide base and shows a feel for the barrel with above average bat speed and quick hands. Shows rhythm and timing throughout his swing with a sound path through the zone and an uphill finish, consistently driving the ball into the gaps while flashing pull side pop. Registered an 85 mph exit velocity in the cage. From the outfield he fields the ball cleanly while taking efficient routes to the ball with a quick first step and accurate throws to the bag that topped out at 80 mph. Clocked in at 6.94 seconds for his 60 yard dash time. More to come as he continues to strengthen his frame.
12/16/17- FAU recruit, the long, lean, athletic outfielder has a lot of twitchiness and athleticism. He has some length in the swing, but has present bat speed. He uses his long levers to generate power. The frame and athleticism project well.
10/18/17- Committed to Florida Atlantic University.
08/26/17- Uncommitted. Stands at 6-foot, 165 pounds with a loose, projectable, athletic frame. From the outfield he showed a quick first step to the ball with range and accurate throws to the bag that topped out at 80 mph. Good instincts. Also clocked in at 7.04 seconds for his 60 yard dash time. At the plate Castillo starts from an open stance and showcased a smooth, natural swing from the left side with an uphill path through the zone after contact. Quick hands and consistently found the barrel during batting practice. Showed some pull-side pop with several balls over the right field wall. Confident hitter. With the athleticism and tools Castillo displayed, he should be a good follow for the fall season.
