The College of Central Florida held a Pro Day on Monday which showed a preview for what’s to come this season. We’ve always said that Florida Junior College baseball is loaded, and that was proven today. Central Florida is coming off of a great year, with a solid roster, as evidenced by the swarms of scouts present yesterday. We got a chance to preview some arms and bats, here are a few standouts from yesterday’s workout.

College of Central Florida Pro Day Standouts

Victor Castillo, OF, (RS) SO

5-foot-11, Athletic Frame. Castillo showed a great approach in BP barreling multiple balls with a line drive approach staying through the middle of the field. That swing led over to the game where he hit a home run clearing the RF fence in a hurry.

John Marant, OF, (RS) FR

6-foot-6 solid/physical frame. A lot to like from Marant who showcased a solid arm in the outfield with his throws on the base consistently. Tons of loud noise coming from Marant at the dish, gets good leverage, and has electric bat speed. He put on a show in BP driving multiple balls well over the fence.

Jackson Taylor, C, (RS) FR

6-foot-2, 211 pounds. Showed a consistent approach during BP, keeps hands through the ball well with very good extension. Stays balanced and creates good leverage.

David Pereira, C/OF, (RS) FR

5-foot-10 stocky athletic frame. Pereira showed good arm strength from both the outfield and from behind the dish. Sub 2 pop time with good flexibility, good feet, and throws on the bag consistently. Put together a solid round of BP spraying the ball to all fields with a short quick stroke.
