2021 MLB Draft: Martin focused on shedding bad weight and becoming leaner and more athletic this past offseason. Now listed at 6-foot-3, 210 pounds, Martin is a hard-contact machine, with one of college baseball’s sweetest lef-handed swings. With slightly above average arm strength and an average run tool to go along with his average power potential, Martin profiles best in left field in pro ball. He's a likely top-five-round pick after a junior season slash of .260/.352/.451 with 11 home runs.
10/15/17- Florida State recruit. Long, loose, projectable frame with plenty of room to fill out. Offensively, the left handed hitter has loose wrists and creates above average bat speed. He has a low hitch load, but when he’s on time he uses his long levers to generate power. You would like to see a less rushed load, so that he is on time more often. Even rushed at times, he shows above average bat to bal skills and has a lot of offensive upside. Had a double and a single during the games, both squared up. The bat, frame, athleticism and power potential will make him a high follow.
05/20/17- FSU recruit. The 6-foot-3, 185-pound left handed hitting outfielder may have been the most impressive performer on the day. This is no surprise as he came in as one of the top performers during his junior season, hitting .420 with 9 home runs and 44 RBIs on the year. Martin has a long, lean frame, with broad shoulders and room to fill out. He has a fluid swing , with a path that stays in the zone a long time while creating a lot of easy bat speed. Most impressively is how well it translated to the game. Martin went 4-5 with two singles and two doubles on the day. He showed an advanced approach with the ability to drive the ball the other way. He stays short to the ball, especially for how long he is. There is some pull power presently, but a lot more to come. He showed some athletic actions in the outfield, with enough arm. He projects as a corner outfielder with a plus hit and potential above average to plus power. Martin will be very intriguing to follow this summer to see how he performs against more of the top arms.
