03/03/18- Florida recruit. Currently stands at 6-foot-5, 215 pounds with a tall, strong, durable build. Was lights out during his six innings on the mound where he struck out 14 and seemed to overpower hitters throughout the game. He has a deliberate, methodical windup with a big leg kick and lands out in front most of the time on his delivery. Featured a fastball that mostly sat 90-92 mph with life, touching 93 throughout while mixing in a 78-79 mph slider that showed depth and threw for strikes. Pogue threw a high percentage of first pitch strikes and jumped on hitters, using primarily his fastball. He will continue to be a top follow throughout the spring as we lead up to the draft.
02/17/18- Florida recruit. The big, strong right-hander may have helped himself the most of any player in attendance Thursday night. He showed a methodical delivery, but with better tempo than in the past. The arm was working cleaner, with less effort with the fastball coming out of the hand with like at 90-93 mph. The big improvement was on the slider. When he got on top of the ball and fully extended the pitch had sharp, late biting action at 80-82 mph. The frame projects to be durable and the arm action works. Should see him on the rise after this impressive outing.
01/21/17- Florida commit. The big, strong 6-foot-5, 180 pound right handed pitcher showed a big time arm and a feel for pitching. While striking out 5 of 6 hitters he faced, the fastball showed late heavy life at 87-88 mph. He shows a really good slider that has the potential to be a plus pitch at 74-75 mph and a changeup at 79-80. He was extremely impressive on the day and has a big time upside with broad shoulders and a strong lower half. Has all of the makings of a frontline starter at the next level.
