Power / Speed Score
A simple calculation that divides the athlete’s Exit Velocity Max by the athlete’s 60 Yard Dash time for the given event year. For example, 98 MPH / 7.00s = 14.00.
2/18/19 - St Johns River recruit, the 6-foot-3, 235 pound first baseman has a strong, XL frame. Defensively, he is a solid first baseman as the feet work and shows ability to pick the ball. Offensively, he really stands out with the big and strong lower half. Uses it well and creates above average bat speed combined with the strength. More strength over bat speed though and generates an exit velocity of 93 mph and has real right-handed power potential.
07/28/18- St Johns River State College recruit, the 6-foot-3, 225 pound left handed hitting first baseman has a big, strong frame. Defensively, the footwork is solid around the bag, the hands work well and had accurate throws topping out at 78 mph. The bat is his best tool. There is present strength throughout the frame, especially the upper half. Really trusts his hands and uses upper half leverage. Could clear the backside and access event more power. He presently generates an exit velocity of 92 mph. There is above average power potential and the power tool will carry him going forward.
05/20/18- Uncommitted, standing at 6-foot-3, 225 pounds he has a big, strong frame. On the mound he worked 83-84 mph with a 73 mph changeup and a 66 mph curveball. Defensively, he is first base only, but moves well and is a solid defender at first. Stood out offensively, working gap-to-gap, with present power and an advanced approach. Showed some pull side power in BP, 88 mph exit velo and had a hard hit out and a single in the game.
11/05/17- The big bodied, 1B/RHP has a strong lower half. He is every bit of 6-foot-2, 220 pound and the strong lower half generates above average pull side power. He shows the ability to drive the ball well enough to stick at first at the next level. On the mound he was interesting as well, showing a heavy fastball at 84-85 mph down in the zone. The big frame and left handed power will make him a follow.
