Whetsell is a 6-foot-3, 190-pound, right-handed hitting corner infielder and right-handed pitcher in the 2022 class. He ran a 7.98 second 60 and posted an 75 mph exit velocity. During batting practice, Whetsell showed a simple load, slight across the body stride, quick hands, leverages front side, inside out approach during round with hard contact. Defensively, soft hands, moves well for his size, glove tap into transfer, momentum towards target, high three-quarter release, long arm action, positional velocity of 71 mph, mostly accurate throws. Simple delivery on the mound from the stretch position. From balance he drops and drives to the plate with a long arm over the top. Good extension and an in-line finish. Fastball was 72 mph with straight life. Curveball sat 61-62 mph with sweeping 11/5 break.
