8/19/19

For the first time we have a new No. 2 since our first 2020 rankings, and moving up to that spot is one of Colorado's biggest risers RHP Case Williams (Douglas County High School; Santa Clara commit). The big framed, durable Williams at 6-foot-2, 225 pounds is the top pitching prospect in the state. Last spring Williams made the PBR All-Colorado Team as a closer, and on the season went 8-1 with a 1.81 ERA striking out 79 in 50 innings pitched while only allowing 37 hits. On the summer travel circuit, Williams fastball, who usually sits 90-91 consistently, has jumped up into the mid 90s. Williams hides the baseball very well and makes it difficult for opposition hitters to pick up the ball early and recognize the differences in his 90 plus fastball to his 75 mph breaking ball with good command. Recently at the Area Codes Williams fastball was 90-93 with a sharp breaking curveball at 76-77.

4/04/19

Committed to Santa Clara. Struck out 10 with a 90-91 mph fastball, and using a good over the top curveball to keep the Grand Junction hitters off balance and induce soft contact. Williams hides the baseball very well and makes it difficult for opposition hitters to pick up the ball early and recognize the differences in his 90 plus fastball to his 75 mph breaking ball.  He showed good command with only two walks in his 6 innings of work.

3/27/19

Committed to Santa Clara. 6-foot-2, 225-pound RHP/1B. Righty on the mound and throws from an over-the-top arm angle, +arm speed. Toe lift to balance point with average effort leads to some rhythm and helps land in line, falls off to 1B. Fastball shows arm side run. In this game Williams was consistently 88-90 mph, touching 91 a few times. Curve showed tight spin and late 11/5 break in the zone and sat and was 79-80 mph. More slide like action. Williams no-hit a good Cherokee Trail team in this game. Williams is off to a dominating start in 2019 throwing 16 innings striking out 29 batters while only giving up 6 hits and has a 0.44 ERA.

5/12/18

Currently ranked No. 6 in Colorado's 2020 rankings. 6-foot-2, 225-pound RHP/1B. Righty on the mound and throws from an over-the-top arm angle with +arm speed. Toe lift to balance point with average effort leads to some rhythm and helps land in line, falls off to 1B. Fastball shows arm side run and averages 87-88 mph, touching 90 twice. Velo drops in the stretch down to 84-85. Mixes in 11/5 shape curve with tight spin and late break. Came in relief and got out of a few tough jams in extra innings. Was victim of wind-aided homerun to right that ended up being the only run he gave up, and difference in game. In 29 innings pitched this season struck out 39 batters.

2/25/18

6-foot-2, 225-pound RHP/1B. Righty on the mound and throws from an over-the-top arm angle, + arm speed. Toe lift to balance point with average effort leads to some rhythm and helps land in line. Fastball shows arm side run and averages between 85-87 mph. Curve showed tight spin and late 11/5 break in the zone and sat 73-74, Does a nice job with arm speed on his Change. Late sink makes this a great secondary pitch and was 71-73 mph.
