PBR N CA Uncommitted Senior Games - Lean rangy athletic body type on 6-foot-2 160-pound frame that still has a lot of positive physical development to come in future years. Primary MIF but willingly jumped on mound and competed to the zone. Good body control in delivery which makes sense as he’s a talented defensive shortstop. Simple delivery that looks to be focused on simply throwing strikes when called upon to pitch. Good lower body stability, overhand slot, loose arm though recoils after finish. Fastball angle was good and there was some late run, sinker type action. Small curveball break with slider type shape. With focus on pitching there is arm speed and body control to develop a delivery to accentuate his innate arm speed/arm strength (83-84 mph on his INF throws in the workout).

7.23 60yd, 83 INF MPH, 81 EV
Long, wiry frame with squared shoulders and length in limbs; projects well with added strength (7.23 60yd). High hands, tall stance with flared elbows; tucks body with small foot lift and hands working down balancing in back hip before swing. When on time, hands were direct to the baseball with barrel matching hand path; barrel can get around the ball but when staying inside worked the middle and pullside with line drives (81 EV). Patient in games drawing two walks and hitting a hard ground ball to third. Defense continues to be solid and consistent with quality footwork and ability to move laterally with ease; arm plays in time with body and can make throws from all angles with limited effort on throws (83 MPH). In game defense shows up with range into the OF and ability to make plays a multitude of ways.

6/26/19

BAY AREA OPEN - Long and lean frame with length in the limbs and tight waist; agile with quick feet (7.47). Showed very strong range able to open hips and cover to both sides with quick and controlled footwork staying underneath himself on the move. Watches the ball into the glove fielding out front with a smooth transition to the throwing arm; arm is compact with quick handspeed out front showing strong accuracy across the diamond (82 MPH). Low hands, relaxed while standing tall with strong posture; hands lift to back shoulder with front foot lift and hold. Direct hands with upward path sticking to the pullside with linedrives off the bat (82 EV). Leon continues to show the athletic ability and range to stick at SS with strong defense and a linedrive bat that lets him get on base.

5/31/19

BAWS 2019 - Long, lean medium frame with proportioned build; frame has space for more growth with good athleticism (7.19 60yd). Tall and balanced keeping back high hands with high back elbow; pushes weight back over back foot with controlled front foot and hands showing small drift back. Swing has slight hitch from back elbow pushing forward before hands; keeps hands tight to body. Level barrel path working low line drives around the middle of the field (78 EV). Defense is strong showing quick feet and strong angles able to play with extended range; glove is smooth and able to make all the plays. Arm is loose and fluid throwing with some whip from the wrist (84 MPH) and able to make plays in different angles. Defense was spectacular during the games showing off his range, tracking balls into foul territory and the OF making tough plays look easy. If the bat can show more consistency would have a strong profile.

7/25/18

NCTB underclass tourney - Saw pitching in this viewing; overhand slot, athletic lean body type. Pitches with a lot of confidence and works fast. Fastball maxed out at 81 and sat 76-78, change up 69-71, slider at 73, locates well inside and pounds the zone. Works fast and hides the ball well. Pitch to contact type that uses his defense. Can hold on runners and limit the running game. A lot of confidence in slider and works backwards really well. Slider is best pitch, quite sharp with late movement. Can throw it at any time in the count.

7/19/18

NCTB Upperclass Tourney - Tall with a lean body type. Has a short compact swing with quick bat speed. Has really good plate coverage and is very discipline in the box. A top of the lineup hitter, has a solid approach that looks to shoot the gaps. Not much of a speedster but can get good jumps and reads ball on dirt well. Has good feel for the game with natural instinct’s and knows how to position himself on plays and against certain hitters. Quick hands turning double plays with great range up the middle. Pitches with a lot of confidence and works fast on the mound. Firm Fastball that maxed out at 82 mph buts sits 78-80 change up 69-71 curveball 67-70 locates well inside and pounds the zone. Works fast and hides the ball well. Pitch to contact type that uses his defense a lot. Can hold on runners and limit the running game.

6/03/18

6/1/18-6/3/18 BAWS 2018 - Lean body with present strength, very favorable physical projectability at 6-foot-1 150-pounds. Tall stance with low hands in setup while using toe-tap for timing; bat has some length and best when getting some rhythm in hands. Opposite field approach with inside out swing that he trusts and should allow him to hit for average and hit a variety of pitches. Fluid athlete with ability to show above average range to both sides; times where ball makes him play high but strong throws while on the move and accurate.

10/7/18 - Central Coast Open - 6-foot-1, 150-pounds, lean and long athletic build, plenty of positive physical projectability. One of the more intriguing uncommitted 2020 grads in the region. Ran a quick 60 yd dash at 7.18 on slow surface. In the batters box he utilizes an open stance with even hands and a high back elbow. He loads the full body back with a lift and hold of the front foot while staying in the back hip. His swing works on an uphill path creating loft with the ball and showing strength (77 MPH exit velo) by driving the ball into the gaps with flashes of more leverage. Defensively he showed strong footwork with the ability to keep his body under control and some natural feel for the middle of the infield. Times where he can play with higher hips while still showing an agile glove. Arm plays up with quickness (81 MPH) and being online while also showing ability to make throws from different angles.
