Central Coast Open: Top Prospects
October 17, 2018
With over 50 players at the event, spread over all four current grad classes, and all of them currently uncommitted to a four year program, this posting is a fun one to dive into. Many participants competed as two-way players and ultimately most of them will develop as either a pitcher or a position player, but for now, they can be viewed simply as talents to be aware of. In selecting the players listed here, our scouting staff has identified players we feel are recruitable at the four year college level.
Players are listed by grad year and then alphabetically. College coaches, please feel free to contact me directly ([email protected]) if you want to further discuss any of these players. Many of these players have been seen by our scouts at other events and/or games and those reports and videos are found within each player's full profile.
Included are 6 2019 grads, 11 2020 grads, 2 2021 grads, and 3 2022 grads. Enjoy!
Scouting Report
10/7/18 - Central Coast Open - Uncommitted, 5-foot-11, 160-pounds, lithe lean body with fast twitch type actions and strength. One of California's top 2020 talents. Fastest runner at the event with 6.75 (handheld) 60 yd dash. At the plate utilizes a crouched, open stance with high hands and high elbows to match. Showed above average bat to ball skills (93 MPH exit velo) with ability to control barrel and drive balls deep into gaps. Swing shows balance with excellent weight transfer creating a very loud bat that explodes through the zone. From outfield showed a very quick and compact arm that regularly put the ball on a line to every base (84 MPH). The above average arm worked really well with the “pro-hop” athleticism he showed and his ability to stay behind the baseball through release.
