Arm: RH. INF - 70 mph. Below average Hit: RHH. Upright, open stance with a high leg kick trigger. Aggressive to ball, plus bat speed and hard consistent contact Power: 88 mph exit velocity. Gap-to-gap currently. Doubles hitter Run: 7.74 runner in the 60.
3/13/19
2021 uncommitted Coronado corner infielder Tobey Brown is listed at 5’ 9” 170 pounds in a sturdy stocky build. Defensively started at third base displaying good fundamentals and understanding of the position but lacking side to side athleticism and plus arm strength. Has shown the ability to play first base with above average pick ability. May have the tools needed to play second base but would need to improve athleticism. Has a big swing with good bat speed, keeping the barrel through the zone with a high finish. Has displayed power and present tools project for a continued power increase with maturity. Hitting approach showed aggressiveness towards the first fastball in the zone and looks to pull regardless of pitch location. Power potential along with an advanced swing should play well but finding a position will be crucial in his development.
10/20/18 - Los Angeles Open - Five-foot-9, 165-pounds, medium/large frame with proportional strength throughout the body. Brown showed a loud round of BP where he elevated everything with consistent barrel contact. Generates his power with a strong lower half that works well with his upper half. Aggressively attacks balls from a wide, left leg way back stance. Big leg kick trigger before driving off the bag leg through the ball. Maintains his barrel on an uphill path through the zone and into contact resulting in line drives to all fields. Defensively he profiles as a third baseman presently with sufficient arm strength and accuracy to stay there in the future. Plays through balls while under control of his body. Shows fair range to either side along with soft hands. Arm can get a tick long in the back but it’s strong and accurate from a few angles.
