Power / Speed Score
A simple calculation that divides the athlete’s Exit Velocity Max by the athlete’s 60 Yard Dash time for the given event year. For example, 98 MPH / 7.00s = 14.00.
Long, lanky frame with square shoulders, very projectable with space for more strength; has improved athleticism and lowered run times (7.19 60yd). Hands above the back shoulder with tall stance using back elbow tuck as rhythm; hands have slight lift with stride getting wide base and allowing for quick turns through the middle of the body. Barrel works upwards through the zone showing present bat speed keeping his head quiet behind the barrel as he uses a long one-handed finish; creates easy lift to the gaps and strength to the pullside (88 EV). Defense is solid keeping his feet in time moving through the baseball and keeping his eyes behind the baseball; plays with strong angles able to beat the ball to it’s spot. Loose arm being able to manipulate it for throws from different angles and showing the game-speed recognition of when to get rid of it (81 INF); made a great play jumping up for a liner at 2nd with quick hop. Best baseball still ahead of him.
5/31/19
Long, lanky frame with square shoulders; very projectable with space for more strength. Moves well with athletic ability (7.36 60yd). Wide, balanced stance with high hands and high elbows; simple, balanced swing allowing body to turn in sequence and consistently found the barrel. Hands are quick showing late bat speed as bat has slightly high finish showing carry to the middle of the fields with the line drives (82 EV). Flashed the bat-to-ball skills with a 3B into RCF that carried off the bat also picking up another hit on a hard single to LF. Smooth defensive glove with the actions to stick in the infield; strong ability to play hops and come get the ball when needed. Glove was regularly on time matching it with quick feet and a compact arm able to keep the ball on the bag (78 MPH). Defense was on display during games as he took away a lot of hits and making the routine plays look very easy. Frame has a chance to add some more strength that could push him up lists with a strong fall/winter.
1/27/19 - PBR N CA Preseason All-State - Large frame showing wide shoulders and lean lower half with length; projectable strength with shape of frame. Scissoring feet with inline stride showing controlled effort (7.44 60-yd). Tall stance with balance keeping high hands and elbows; simple step allowing weight to transfer into back hip as hands work up and back. Quick and compact swing keeping hands inside the ball and driving through contact; level bat path showing strong balance in swing. Regularly worked gap-to-gap with the ability to backspin the ball for more future carry (83 exit velo). Controlled footwork with ability to create angles and beat the ball to it’s spot; fluid with soft hands feeding ball to throwing arm with ease. Quick arm gets to high release from compact swing showing carry and online throws (78 MPH). Projectable 2020 could fit at multiple infield positions.
