8/4/15 - Took the hill to start for the Brewers and went two innings, striking out four and allowing just one hit. He sat 88-90 mph with his fastball from an easy delivery, but his breaking ball was the separator. He got several swings and misses on a sharp slider at 80-82 that disappeared at the plate.
One of the top prospects coming into the tournament, Gowdy gave a glimpse of why he’s highly regarded. He has a tall, projectable frame at 6-foot-4, 170 pounds and an easy delivery. He pitched at 88-90, but clearly has more in the tank. His breaking ball was a 77-81 slider. He pitched six innings across two appearances, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out three.
