vs Vacaville HS - UC San Diego signee; We saw Soberon a few times in 2019, including at the ProCase. He's a thick sturdy 6-foot-1 200-pounds and over his high school career has consistently possessed one of the better breaking balls in his class of RHPs. The velocity of the fastball has now climbed up a bit to reflect what we saw at that ProCase, sitting 88-89 in this one (even in the 6th inning) a high of 90 mph. Fastball had sink on the arm side and life through the zone on the glove side. He's got stability over the rubber and his lower body gets his hand to a consistently out front release point. There is a hook/curl on the backside but he comes out of it well and I don't see that as an issue . The breaking ball is a hard spike grip curveball he threw 77-82 mph all night long, in just about any count, for strikes, swinging strikeouts and looking strikeouts that locked up hitters with the hard late action. He mixed in a few change-ups and the whole repertoire was good and usable to both RHH and LHH hitters. Was 1.25-1.32 home with runners on base. Should be a significant prospect for the 2023 draft.

at Acalanes - St. Mary's commit; went 5 innings (5 R, 7 K, 3 BB, 6 H) and showed a lot of competitiveness that will serve him well in college. High 3/4 slot, long arm action with some funk on the backside. Fastball was up to 87 mph, settled in at 85-86 for most the game, with some dips down to 83 mph in the stretch later in the game. Best and most trusted pitch for him is the curveball (74-77 mph) that at times can bite like a slider. Early in the game he was overthrowing it a bit as he was not getting to a good release point. As he tired or had some excitement wear off and settled into the game that pitch got MUCH better. It's got two-plane break and when he throws it at the front hip of right-handed hitters it's a buckler. Went in well vs left-handed hitters. Also has a usable change-up (75-76 mph). With three usuable pitches, guttiness/competitiveness, and a strong build, his future looks bright at the college level. Quick feet on the pick off move as well. Did tend to work a little slowly at times.

St. Mary's commit; has the look of being a horse for the Ugly Eagles this season. Projectable body with room to grow that should only help him gain velocity as he gets older. Consistent and repeatable delivery, with good arm speed on all three pitches he threw. FB sat 84-86 T87 MPH. Best pitch was his breaking ball with an 11/5 shape at times and 12/6 others. Used it to buckle right-handers and threw it to the back foot of lefties with success. Had 4 strikeouts in 2 innings and pounded the zone with 3 pitches. Only threw his changeup 2-3 times because he didn’t need it, but it showed some good depth when in the zone.
