Game Notes: Clayton Valley Charter vs San Ramon Valley
February 20, 2019
Concord, CA - With Northern California getting drenched with rain all last week, the Clayton Valley Charter Ugly Eagles and San Ramon Valley Wolves were finally able to square off in a preseason scrimmage with hopes of getting all the kinks out. Both teams came out with energy, however, the early season rust was clearly evident on both sides.
Clayton Valley made the strongest impression showing some quality arms that should keep them close in games. The Ugly Eagles showed a very consistent offensive approach willing to put pressure on the defense any chance they get. This team takes pride in being fundamentally sound and you could see that in their play today. The big highlight for the Ugly Eagles was a big-time 3 run home run from uncommitted ’20 OF Telly Hill. Hill's bat has continued to grow showing pop and more strength in his swing.
San Ramon Valley got their entire squad lots of playing time in today's game, mixing and matching to see what fits where before the season opens. The Wolves were not at their sharpest in all three facets of the game but showed flashes of good hitting and good team speed. A full week of practice should do plenty to help clean up the mistakes and have them ready to go game one.
Inside are scouting notes and video along with some game notes on 12 players - several of them uncommitted - from each of the next four classes. College program and you don't have a subscription? Now seems like a good time to get one.
