3/11/20

vs Rodriguez HS - Air Force commit; Booker had a rough day at the plate (0-for-4, 3K) but nevertheless showed an array of tools. He showed great patience at the plate and really only swing at pitches in the zone. He was fooled on a curve in an at bat but the pitch may have been a bit outside. He is an above average runner with his lanky frame allowing him to generate speed. He displayed that speed by running down a ball deep in the gap in left-center that anyone else likely wouldn’t have gotten to and showed a quick first step when he proceeded back. He also made the first out of the 7th by running down a shallow fly ball. Booker is a dynamic player and has played on varsity all three years.

1/27/19

1/27/19 - PBR N CA Preseason All-State - Air Force commit. Medium frame that is long and lanky with lean strength throughout; very projectable frame. Easy runner putting head down and letting very fast feet take over (7.18 60-yd). Slightly crouched stance with wide base and flared elbows as hands stay even with back shoulder keeping flat bat; slight rock into back hip as hands pull back under control. Back elbow tucks allowing bat to get on plane and drive through the ball on level path; quickness in the bat with quick turns of the body showing middle focus and ability to backspin balls into the gaps (90 exit velo). Projectable future swing with flashes of more pop as he matures and strengthens. Quick, short steps allow him to come up on ball under control before allowing glove to get down and through the ball; loose, easy arm with longer swing before quick release putting the ball on a line to bases showing carry (85 mph). Long and lean athlete that oozes potential with projectable frame and big intangibles. Top 2021 who could rise up rankings through Spring.

8/25/18

5-foot-10, 150-pounds, lean wiry body type, athletic player with quick twitch movements. Versatile player capable of playing centerfield or 3rd base, would be interesting to see if he could handle a middle infield position given his strong arm and quick feet. Offensively he is a slashing type hitter with above average bat speed and the ability to handle good fastballs. The ball leaves his bat well with the ability to get into the gaps. Flat swing and good balance, lets the ball travel and trusts his hands, has ability to stay on the fastball but also stay back on offspeed pitches. Both game at-bats were hard hit singles on curveballs (one to LF and one to RF). He’s an above average runner down the line and a plus runner underway, also showed usable ability to steal bases so he’s not just a fast kid. Defensively has a quick and strong arm with low trajectory throws and as he gets stronger he should maintain the whippy arm and develop a plus arm. Talented player.

6/03/18

BAWS 2018 - Lean and wiry athletic build on 5-foot-10 155-pound body. Twitchy type athlete with some innate explosiveness in all that he does. One of the more intriguing athletes in Northern California 2021 class. Wide, balanced stance with wide hands away from body using small load into back hip; compact slashing type stroke showing late barrel quickness and ability to keep hands tight and pull ball for extra bases. Smooth in field with ability to track ball; showed off above average arm that flashes better due to strong usage of legs and ability to keep throws straight and on line. Quick out of box with smooth, athletic stride and ability to get to next speed when taking extra bases. Much better underway than home to first times indicate. Plus runner underway as 6.87 60-time indicates.
