FALL BALL - One of the Top 2021 middle infielders in Northern California. Long and lean, wiry frame with width in the shoulders; still some space to keep adding strength to the frame. Actions in the middle of the infield to be a plus defender at multiple positions. High hand set up with slight crouch at the plate during both right and left hand swing. Athletic swing with fluid actions showing flat path through the zone having direct hands. Picked up two hits and two walks while also stealing two bases during the games (4.47-4.63 H-1st, 4.5T). The stolen bases were both easy for him as he’s got disruptive actions and instincts looking to be on the move and showing first step quickness. Defensively he shows plus range with easy athletic actions; the glove works independently and he consistently puts himself in a good spot reading the ball off the bat well.

at Monte Vista Christian - Oregon State commit, showed off his strong glove during pregame playing under control and showing quick feet that give him strong range. He plays with some flash and shows a strong arm being able to flick the ball across the diamond. The medium frame is lean with a high waist, wide shoulders and projects some more growth as he matures. He went 2-3 in the game with a walk showing a quick and compact bat with a direct path hitting ground balls through the 5/6 hole and back up the middle and showing some potential with his quick feet and loose hips that can open with ease while rounding the bases (4.4 H-1st). He threw away a routine double play ball in the 2nd that cost the Padres a run and later had a hard ground ball catch him in between hops. I’m not worried about the defensive miscues in the long term, but it's important to remember these players are still developing and not finished products.

The Oregon State commit showed off defensive chops above and beyond his young age and the quickness, agility and range to stick at the spot at the next level. He's got a medium frame with a high, tight waist and lean muscles throughout. During BP he showed off his defensive skills moving to all three-infield spots and consistently working to get his eyes behind the glove and showing quick feet to cover plenty of range. This carried over into game with him showing the ability to make the routine plays, but also the range to go deep into the outfield. He flashed extended range to both his glove and arm side and matched the range with an arm showing enough strength to make throws from both middle infield positions. His athleticism carried over when on bases, as he's a fluid runner able to steal bases and put pressure on opposing pitchers (4.59 H-1st). I liked seeing the aggressive approach on the bases especially during the fall as he gets to know when and where to utilize it. Offensively the switch hitter profiles a similar swing from both sides. He works with high hands/elbows and a slight leg lift and tuck for timing from a slightly open position. The hands are direct to the ball with the ability to spray line drives over the middle infield positions and showing some barrel control that can continue to grow as he matures and strengthens.
