Fresno Easter Classic - St. Mary’s Commit. Just looked really good in the outing maintaining velocity for it. Lands crossbody at times but gets away with it. Arm path is quick and clean. Touched 89 MPH several times mainly 87-88 MPH. Worked 85-86 MPH in stretch. Touching 88 in 6th inning. SLD was sharp at 77-78 MPH and mixed in a CHG at 70-71 MPH that he showed feel for.
1/13/19 - Central Valley Preseason I.D. - Saint Mary's commit - Body continues to show good strength and is a big stronger than last seen, now up to 200-pounds and long and strong 6-foot-4, continues to impress as a two-way talent at this level, on mound up to 88 mph while settling in at 86-87 mph, creates good arm speed starting with deep backside arm action and creation of leverage, aggressive with his arm, easy stride and gets to firm powerful front side, possesses good body control, power stuff and he's not reached ceiling, curveball a bit slider-like 72-74 mph can be a solid out-quality pitch, good change-up with late life and depth at 74-78 mph.
XL frame with squared shoulders and current muscles showing strength throughout; very projectable with looseness in hips and shoulders and tight core. Tall, balanced stance with high hands and high back elbow showing strong posture; quick foot lift as hands stay, being quiet and starting to turn barrel onto plane. The body works in sequence as hands get on plane early and show explosive quickness through the zone finishing high with very strong backside. Showed the present power in his bat as he regularly drove the ball deep into gaps, off of and over the wall (94 exit velo). Smooth, controlled action in INF with large stride length and ability to get low hips while working through the ball; body moves well when coming to get the ball. Above average arm currently with flashes of Plus when working in 6 hole and really letting it loose (85 mph). One of the Top 2020 players in the entire state. Looks every bit the part of impact 2-way player at next level.
8/25/18 - N CA Underclass Games - Saint Mary’s College commit, 6-foot-4, 195-pounds, big lanky and type of frame that will allow him to grow into a powerful adult athlete. Competed as two-way player at showcase and though pitching stands out more presently he does have position player talent. On mound he’s got a shot to be one of the better pro prospects in Central/Northern California in the 2020 class. High-3/4 slot approaching overhand slot. Stab on backside and comes out of it well though he does take the arm swing behind his body a bit which on days when the timing isn’t there could cause some control issues. Lots of good stuff with the fastball, heavy action, life at the plate, to go along with good velocity. Big hard 11/5 curveball with makings of being a plus pitch. Change-up is good, with feel and could be a plus pitch as well. Lot to like with this young pitcher. Offensively he showed lots of life in the bat with present power and promise of more. Hands work easily and gets to good extension and separation. Balanced and strong. Gets behind the ball well, drove ball over head of centerfielder in game action. Defensively has soft hands and a big arm, does take an extra step too much getting to release, likely would move to 1st base beyond high school level but the arm is a plus infield arm.
2/20/18 - Saint Mary's College commit. Big kid at 6-foot-3 190-pounds, certainly has the durable body type. Bulldog demeanor and clearly a tough competitor. Long arms so he maintains good future projectability with his size and present day stuff. Occasionally overthrows but the stuff is there to dream on. Fastball up to 88 mph, settles in a bit below that when throwing strikes. Slider has makings of a very good pitch at the college level.
