Worked a quick 13-pitch inning with a sneaky 90-92 mph fastball thrown with a long arm swing to a high three-quarter slot. He also changed speed and shape on his late-actioned breaking ball which ranged from 75-79 mph
NCTB Upperclass Tourney - Long Beach State commit, Athletic, wiry strong, and explosive player on a smaller frame, plays big on the field and in the box. Steps in the box with the intent of driving the ball. Had multiple excellent approaches on FB’s inside that were driven foul. Hand path is consistent above the ball, hands don’t bottom out. /// Fast arm on mound, quick tempo, athlete on the mound, worked 86-88 mph, touched 89, over top slot, breaking ball slider-like 76-77 mph, was throwing a bit, control can improve, all in all a good athlete with good stuff.
BAWS 2018 - Lean and wiry strong 6-foot-0 160-pound two-way player. One of Northern California's more intriguing talents. See him one day as a position player and there is a lot to like. See him on the mound and that is really good too. Wide stance with flat bat on back shoulder while using toe tap for timing; pull side approach with strong rotational swing. Strength in wrists and can drive ball to gaps when on time. Excellent throws from outfield showing plus arm with speed and extra carry through the cut man. Plays better with speed in field. On mound keeps hands wide with small bend in waist during simple delivery; mid-3/4 arm with looseness and ability to dial up velocity as needed. Fastball 85-90 mph, straight with life/length through the strike zone. Slider 77-79 mph with small lateral bend and flashes of more. Limited outing but showed plus tempo and ability to attack hitters.
Lean athletic 6-foot-0 160-pound build, fairly wide shoulders and should have ample room to develop upper body strength, aggressive hitter, starts with high hand set, aggressive move to the ball as he starts his lower half on each pitch, keeps hands back well, sees ball well, attack-mode and gets through contact with good bat speed, runs hard and can put pressure on the defense, plays with an edge. On mound long arm action, works easy from high-3/4 slot, lots arm side run with occasional sink, can ride it up and in, fluid athletic delivery, slider with workable bite, can climb velo as he needs it. Legitimate HS two-way prospect.
