vs Redwood HS-Visalia at Fresno Easter Classic - CSUN commit; having seen multiple times the body descriptions all remain same, long and lanky, good body, lots of favorable projectability, overhand slot, arm is loose and strong, held velocity deep into this outing, fastball was 88-91 with 90-91 showing up in 4th inning. Seemed to gain confidence and life as the game went along and it was the best his stuff has played in our viewings. Curveball 72 mph and slider 74-75 mph, slider is the better of the two pitches but as he loosened up and got deeper the action on both pitches improved. Best secondary pitch down the road could be the change-up, which he likes to throw to both right and left-handed hitters. Does drop the slot/elbow quite a bit on the change and that will be an issue to more advanced hitters. Has had some scout looks this spring but very likely headed to college where he will have a chance to continue to mature on the mound and see what the ceiling of his stuff is. He's highly projectable and if he's throwing 93-94 someday in college with a near average slider and average change-up it would not be surprising.

at De La Salle - CSU Northridge signee. His stuff was good but it wasn't the best day for him. Pilchard has a long lanky body and certainly has all the positive attributes of a projectable right-hander,loose arm, overhand slot, three pitches, etc. The fastball was pretty steadily 88-89 mph with some bumps of 90 mph. He did struggle to locate it well enough. There was quite a bit of movement on the fastball and occasionally some exploding sink. The curveball was biting well (73-75 mph) but as his body was rushing a bit and an abundance of his curveballs were thrown at the front hip of right-handed hitters. There were a few that locked up hitters due to that but he didn't get many swing and misses from that pitch. Change-up was 75 mph and he was pushing it a bit. It appeared, like a lot of the Jesuit players, that Pilchard let the moment of the first game, the first start of his season, get to him at least a little bit and seemed rushed. He's a talented prospect and should be seen again as he settles into the season.

CSU Northridge signee. Scrimmage vs Bella Vista HS - Long proto-type right-handed pitcher frame at 6-foot-3, 190-pounds, overhand slot, loose easy arm with considerable projectabilty still remaining, quality stuff had been seen in other viewings but mostly fastball (was 87-89 mph in this viewing, mostly 88) and the interest was mostly velocity projection. Over the winter the curveball (75-76 mph) has tightened up and he's throwing it with more feel. Used three in a row to one of the better hitters in the area, each was better than the last. Still releases too early on occasion when trying to throw his 'A' curveball but he's really close and is showing the makings of a future 50/55 curveball.

CSU Northridge commit. 6-foot-3, 190-pound, long, lean, athletic frame with broad shoulders, long limbs, high waist, and large feet. Likely to continue growing and almost certainly will add mass. Pilchard starts tall on the backside with a slight knee bend and uses a drop and drive motion. His hips are quick and free with a swinging left leg and lands on the ball of his front foot towards the target. His delivery is repeatable and clean. Lands in a balanced stance with his weight evenly distributed between his hips and his landing leg which is bent. Uses his lower half and shoulders to generate his power. Creates downhill plane on his fastball with all pitches although there is some effort when he reaches back and increases his velocity. Pilchard has a fast arm and uses a bit of a sidesaddle high delivery. His fastball shows late life when entering the zone and was living 86-88 mph touching 90 mph with arm-side run. His changeup was very good this outing showing late running action into righties and was 81-82 mph. His curveball is a two-plane with downer action and was also a very good pitch this outing working 73-75 mph. Pilchard maintained his velocity as he was 86-87 mph in the 5th inning.

Medium athletic build, thick in the legs. Up tempo pitcher, little wasted time in between pitches who attacks the strike zone. Fastball regularly at 85-86 mph, touched 89 twice early in the inning with excellent control inside. Not afraid to challenge the hitter.
